Overall Purpose of the role

Contribute to the business and financial strategy of the company

Ensure that an appropriate financial policy framework is in place to guide the company's financial decision making. In particular, clarity will be required on turnover, cost, profit, investment and forward planning.

Responsible for all commercial, financial and legal management aspects of company operations.

Ensure effective planning, monitoring, management and reporting systems operate in the business.

Provide leadership and co–ordination to pre–construction and project delivery, planning, budgeting, accounting and reporting.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Commercial & Financial Management

* Participation in all reviews of organisational performance

* Establishing and maintaining costing models for contracts/projects

* Continuously seeking, implementing and documenting ways of developing the management accounting and reporting systems with a view to improving quality and timeliness of management information

* Manage the financial system, ensuring maximum productivity and that it meets the needs of the business today and in the future.

* Oversee the continuous improvement and development of accounting and financial processes with the goal to achieve best practices and optimal output.

* Taking part in development of proposals for new contracts, providing cost and revenue projections and commercial terms

* Taking part in reviews of contracts and providing financial information as appropriate

* Supply Chain Management, ensuring effective cost and quality control

Budgets & Forecasts

* Lead the financial modelling and analysis to support the development of long term strategic initiatives and business plans.

* Provide ongoing financial modelling and analysis expertise to managers in the business

* Maintenance and development of contract costing, budgeting, forecasting and reporting models

Cashflow

* Manage ongoing banking relationships

* Develop cash flow forecasting models and maintain a long term cash forecast

* Oversee management and reporting of debtors

Management Reporting & Controls

* Responsible for all board reporting on Financial Orbit, Balance Scorecards and KPI's

* Responsible for monthly financial management accounts and reporting

* Present monthly and year–to–date financial with accompanying analysis of results.

* Develop regular reporting and analysis, including KPI reports and conduct ad hoc financial analysis as required.

Annual Accounts

* Responsible for the preparation of the annual statutory accounts in line with legal requirements.

* Liaison with external accountants during their work on the annual accounts.

Office Management

* Responsible for the effective operation of a professional office infrastructure, resources and facilities to meet the needs of the business.

* Day to day management of support staff

Skills /Attributes Required

* Significant experience of working at a senior management level in a dynamic business environment covering commercial and financial management responsibilities.

* Demonstrable experience of working in the construction or contracting sectors is desirable.

* Good knowledge of budgeting and forecasting issues and techniques.

* Strong knowledge of SAGE Accounting Systems.

* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

* Flexible, ability to work under pressure individually and as part of a team
