Team Lead, G eneral Ledger(JESS) OVERVIEW: KPMG in Jamaica seeks to identify a General Ledger Team Lead who will be responsible for leading the JESS general accounting staff, while addressing tight deadlines as well as a multitude of technical and analytical accounting activities including reconciliations, year-end schedules, and other general accounting tasks. The position will be assigned to our rapidly growing KPMG Jamaica Extended Support Services (JESS), which provides services to a major client in the United States. PROFILE The successful candidate should possess strong analytical and people management skills along with advanced accounting experience. Specifically, the candidate should demonstrate: strong technical and supervisory skills to lead a team of resources performing various general accounting activities and support their professional development; the ability to identify and implement improvements in collaboration with key stakeholders; the ability to exercise professional skepticism and provide critical insights; strong critical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills. CORE FUNCTIONS Reporting directly to the JESS General Accounting Manager, the General Ledger Team Lead will supervise the general accounting staff to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner, in accordance with established policies and procedures. Core job responsibilities will be to: Assist in managing the General Ledger (GL) operations while working closely with Client and JESS resources Responsible for moderate to complex activities associated with maintaining general ledger accounts. Prepares special complex reports and analyses Reconcile moderate to complex balance sheet accounts on a daily and/or monthly basis Prepare various types of reconciliations and analysis Research, follow up on and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner Prepare journal entries and post to the General Ledger Process fixed asset maintenance Maintain adequate support for posted journal entries Performs quality assurance review of other team members' delivery and ensures it meets Client's expectations and deadlines. Assists the GA Manager in cultivating productive relationships between operational teams, functional, and program related stakeholders. Encourages and supports the identification of continuous improvement initiatives such as automation and procedural enhancements Brings a customer centric focus to the role and act as the first point of escalation to ensure high levels of Client satisfaction. Applies knowledge, independent judgment and Client's policies to complete moderate to complex accounting or finance related job responsibilities and assignments. Performs work of a technical or analytical nature, requiring special skills, training and related experience. Collaborates within Jess F&A departments to share best practices related to service delivery, team leadership, and reporting. Supports Clients' GA operations by performing special project requests related to analytical reporting or assessments to improve service delivery. Effectively communicates with the Client to understand any changes to Client's departmental policies, processes and procedures, and implement affected changes. Ensures standard operating procedures (SOP) documents accurately reflect the way the process is performed, updating every time a process change is administered (policy change, improvement, etc.) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and COMPETENCIES: Education/Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field from an accredited college or university required Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience Ability to guide staff regarding processes and procedures Advanced knowledge of General Ledger and accounting for Balance Sheet Reconciliations and Analysis, other Account Analysis and Fixed Assets Technical Working knowledge of SAP General Ledger Module preferred Advanced knowledge and use of office productivity tools (MS Office, etc.) Ability to exercise professional skepticism Ability to understand process risks and issues, and provide critical insights Interpersonal Capable of being entrusted with "confidential" information Ability to build productive working relationships with stakeholders and team members Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing as well as the ability to actively participate in phone calls and Skype meetings Ability to generate team cooperation Ability to be flexible with job duties and scope of work Leadership Supervise a team of junior staff resources, and support their professional development Ability to coach and motivate team members to optimize team effectiveness and enhance team interactions Ability to hold team members accountable for the achievement of established customer satisfaction levels Ability to identify and implement improvement in collaboration with Client's stakeholders and GA Manager Ability to impact team morale, culture, and participation Proven organizational and time management skills Ability to prioritize multiple and/or conflicting priorities Ability to escalate critical issues to the GA Manager and Client's stakeholders as necessary Support the GA Manager to continuously improve, add value and sustain the long-term vision of the JESS organization Follow us on Social Media We thank all interested applicants, however, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. © 2018 KPMG in Jamaica, a Jamaican partnership and a member firm of the KPMG network of independent member firms affiliated with KPMG International Cooperative ("KPMG International"), a Swiss entity.
