Solutions Architect

What is the opportunity? The Solution Architecture group in RBC Caribbean Technology focuses on translating business vision into enterprise strategy, with a particular focus on leading the Digital development and overseeing the execution of cross-cutting technology and architectural strategies affecting applications, infrastructure, and business areas. Transforming RBC's Enterprise Architecture practice with a focus on effectively managing the complete architecture lifecycle. Transforming Integrated IT Portfolio Management to be a key enabler in achieving key priorities of the Technology and Operations organization as well as, facilitating collaboration through the EA community and beyond. The vision for the Enterprise Architecture Community of Practice and Solution Architecture is to be 'viewed as an indispensable partner in maturing RBC's implemented business and technology capability in order to most efficiently and effectively enable the business vision and strategy. What will you do? Assess and analyze business strategy, business requirements, current state environment and technology choices to evaluate solution alternatives that meet business sponsor needs. Work with technical systems specialists, business systems specialists from the impacted application groups/third parties to understand the current state and constraints for defining the future state architecture and the interfaces Define end-to-end technical solutions that take into account the enterprise architecture strategies, current state environment and constraints. Work with Project Managers, Group Managers and assist in the development of the program roadmap. Work with Data Architecture, Security Architecture and Infrastructure SME's to ensure that all aspects of the solution architecture are defined and elaborated. Review details designs in order to ensure compliance with the solution architecture. Analyze the viability of the solution to meet program timeline, budget and quality requirements. Identify technical issues and risks and define mitigation approach. Resolve technical issues and escalate as appropriate Develop architecture artifacts (solution architecture document, architecture decisions) as defined by the project management framework (PMF) and software development life cycle (SDLC). Review documents with Enterprise Architecture, Lead Architects, Business Architects and the key program stakeholders Lead/participate in the technical evaluation of identified vendor solutions as well as due diligence exercises Facilitate meetings for reviewing technical architecture, decision making, problem solving, knowledge transfer and collaboration Develop and present project solution alternatives along with recommendations to stakeholders of varying levels and the Architecture review board Prepare and deliver presentations to business and technology partners across levels. As well as, mentor Technical System Analysts on assigned projects Continually enhance skills and build knowledge in all aspects of the organization, the business and information systems. Actively seek out and participate in relevant coursework and skills development opportunities What do you need to succeed? Must have 10 years of experience in information technology roles and at least 3 years of exposure to architecture development Bachelor degree in a technical area of study (eg. computer science, mathematics or engineering) or other BSc/BA degree with a concentration in computer science or information systems or equivalent Solid experiences with a variety of technologies/approaches including Java Spring, .NET, MQ, SQL Server, Oracle databases, Content Management, API Gateways Experience working with a variety of enterprise technologies and architecture approaches (eg. mainframe, distributed, online/mobile and digital) including: Cloud native application design Relational and non-relational data architecture Security of data at rest and data in-flight N-tier and distributed (CF, K8S) infrastructure Android & iOS native applications, native web views Single-page Application (SPA) web apps Messaging design with REST, Web Services and MQ Solid understanding of Scrum and UML Working experience in CI/CD (Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployments) and tools Nice to have Project management experience highly desirable.
