RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

An opportunity has arisen for an indirect tax professional to join the EMEA tax department as an associate in a technology and compliance focussed role. Working closely with the rest of the VAT team you will be responsible for co-ordinating the VAT compliance requirements across EMEA and playing a key role in providing and implementing tax technology solutions for indirect tax.

Responsibilities:
  • Liaising with key finance stakeholders in order to prepare the quarterly UK VAT group return calculations and statistical reporting
  • Ensure compliance with filing and reporting obligations.
  • Pro-actively identify, manage and implement indirect tax opportunities for the firm.
  • Review and oversight of EMEA VAT compliance activities with a view to continuous improvement in processes and controls, and driving an automation agenda.
  • Participation in ad-hoc projects to ensure that all indirect tax implications are managed appropriately, including MTD.
  • Assist with global review of AP, AR and VAT return processes with a view to standardise and automate where possible.
  • Liaise with HMRC in connection with VAT matters.
  • Manage registration process for indirect taxes in EMEA (VAT, CIS, Option to Tax).
  • Act as an advisory to the firm's front office businesses
  • Develop and train colleagues outside the tax department in VAT to enhance risk control.

Qualifications / skills:
  • An indirect tax specialist, either ACCA, ACA or CTA qualified with a strong knowledge of UK and EU VAT compliance.
  • An organised individual with the ability to handle multiple demands and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong IT skills including Excel and Powerpoint
  • Familiarity with PSAP/Oracle or similar ERP systems
