Role Summary:
To facilitate business and assist management by conducting evaluations of the Bank to assess risk and compliance with regulations so as to ensure that the bank operates in accordance with (a) all regulatory and legal requirements and (b) all Group standards of conduct. This Job Role forms in integral part of the Banks 2 nd Line of Defence. The incumbent will also be performing regular and comprehensive compliance and internal control risk assessment and testing according to the approved compliance & internal control review plan. The incumbent will be required to report on a regular basis on compliance and internal control matters, identified breaches and corrective actions taken, as applicable.
Under direction of the Head Compliance, draft the Scope of Internal control oversight as the annual plan and to adhere to the plan, performing reviews and following up outstanding action. By their actions and activity the incumbent will support & promote a strong internal control and compliance culture throughout the Branch. They are responsible for assisting in managing (on a pro-active basis) the internal control activities with the purpose of identifying and assessing the associated risks with the business activities especially those related to regulatory and statutory requirements until resolved..

Role Description:
  • Assist the Head of Compliance / Internal Control in ensuring sound internal control policies and practices in order to protect QNB licenses, customer relations and sound internal procedures.
  • Support achieving the goals as defined in the annual plans regarding Internal Control.
  • Support Customer Satisfaction, by supporting and promoting a strong internal control culture and practices reviewing process considering customer impacts (Operational Risk/ TCF).
  • Ensure timely and accurate information to the Head of Compliance / Internal Control, as and when required.
  • Provide efficient & effective support to QNB London Branch, with regards to Internal Control
1. Planning:
- To prepare and implement the annual internal control review plan.
2. Assessment Criteria:
- To implement specific steps within the review program to ensure adequate bank wide coverage of Regulatory requirements.
3. Monitoring:
- Monitor action taken on Regulator inspectors' recommendations to ensure effective implementation.
- Monitor adherence of business and support management to Central Bank/ Legal Authority regulations and statutory requirements.
- Oversee the standard of accounting and financial information, in particular the conditions under which such information is registered, retained and disclosed.
- Verify compliance with all types of decision-making procedures and risk procedures as well as QNB standards.
- Monitoring Report until All Required Action Completed
4. Internal Control Review:
- Conduct on-going internal Control reviews as per the approved annual compliance review plan.
- Provide advice service to the Branch Management in relation to product services (policies and procedures) from Internal Control perspective
- Review new and amendments made to relevant policies, procedures, from internal control point of view.
- Promoting employee awareness through continuous training courses regarding internal Control issues and requirements in QNB London Branch.
- Review all critical reconciliations performed by Finance department and operations e.g. Suspense accounts and Sundry Accounts. Follow-up all outstanding entries/ differences.
- Check mandates files for completion of documents, on a regular basis.
- Implement exception reports and follow-up items needed resolution.
5. Reports:
- Submit periodic reports to Head of Compliance / Internal Control detailing cases of Internal Control breaches.
- Prepare a report for every assignment conducted detailing the review objectives, scope and outcome.
- Ensure Regulatory reports are submitted in an accurate and timely way
6. Special Assignments & Investigations:
- Participate in special assignments & investigations as and when required.
7. Advisory:
- Recommend improvement in branch's policies and procedures as appropriate to be in line with new and or amended Regulatory and/ or statutory requirements.
- Make necessary recommendations in order to improve the controls over the procedures and processes.
- Ensure high standards of confidentiality to safeguard commercially sensitive information. awareness of GDPR

Qualifications:
  • Sound, typically 4-6 years', experience of control/audit procedures and knowledge of compliance in banking institution (covering Retail/ Wholesale/ Treasury) or regulatory agency preferably in internal audit function
  • Understanding of Countries Banking Regulatory environment
  • Bachelor degree with professional qualifications such as CCO/CPA/CIA/CA.
