Assistant Accountant

About the Team 

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our dynamic finance team supporting our 550+ retail stores. Located within our Leicestershire Head Office our Retail Cash Accounting team play a crucial role in delivering finance support to key stakeholders across the business for a variety of purposes including:

• Tender Management
• Producing management information
• Monitoring and assessing performance statistics and trends
• Daily and weekly payment reconciliations
• Deliver project testing and reporting

About the Role: 

You will:
 

• Be responsible for supporting the Retail Banking Manager with identifying and driving efficiencies within cash accounting and at a store level.
• Work on tender management and cost control duties including reconciliation and management for retail store home loan applications for annual sales of £65m, maintenance and reconciliations of balance sheet control accounts and monitoring daily transactions.
• Liaise with third parties for quick resolution of settlement variances, commission queries and ensuring aging is minimal.
• Monitor and assess performance stats and trends, identify problem areas and report findings to be used in improving processes.
• Be a key driver in project testing in terms of scoping tests and assessing the output.

About You:

• Previous experience in a similar role and part qualified CIMA/ ACCA/ ACA.
• Numerate with proven analytical and problem solving abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast paced and pressured environment with changing priorities.
• Excellent planning and organising skills to ensure implementation within the required deadlines.
• Ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally and have excellent communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail is paramount.
