State Street's IMS service is an integrated solution of technology, operations and processes for an Investment Manager who has outsourced their core investment operations functions to State Street. This typically includes trade management, settlements, data management, investment recordkeeping, valuations, reconciliations, cash forecasting, corporate actions, client reporting and information delivery. By outsourcing these functions to State Street, clients are able to free up resources to focus on expanding their product offerings and increasing their global reach, whilst taking advantage of our integrated, scalable platforms without incurring long-term technology expenditures.

Reporting to the Head of Program Delivery IMS APAC, the Project Manager has responsibility for managing projects associated with:

  • onboarding new Middle Office Clients
  • strategic initiatives for existing Middle Office Clients

Responsibilities

  • Instill a detailed status reporting process, including reporting against plan
  • Track the actual project expenses (including business & IT staff and travel costs) and compare/manage to the original project budget.
  • Creating the proper governance model, organization structure and culture across key areas of business and technology to enable the achievement of strategic/tactical goals.
  • Prepare the following baseline artefacts; Project Brief, Project Initiation Documentation, Project Plan
  • Manage the IMS Project Plan ensuring that tasks are planned, resources are allocated and due dates are clear. Focus on prioritization and key planning decisions.
  • Manage the scope of the project, including tracking the status of the IT development activities.
  • Maintain Issues and Risk Registers and Lessons Learned Log
  • Work with Test Manager and Conversion Manager, to ensure that the solution/processes and conversion tools are adequately tested prior to go-live.
  • Work with the Operational Readiness Manager to ensure that the business, systems and client are operationally ready prior to the go-live.
  • Work with IT in order to ensure alignment and delivery in line with the agreed plan.
  • Work with the other Project Managers across the Program, to ensure that the business workstreams are aligned and that our efforts are coordinated.
  • Work with the Client's Middle Office Lead in order to ensure the services are provided in line with the agreed scope of services.
  • Defining success criteria (contractual milestones, financial targets, risk mitigation, etc.) for each client integration and working closely with the Program Manager/Unit Head to actively manage the achievement of these objectives.
  • Directing development of customized end-to-end client transition plans and ensuring management of client conversions to State Street's operating model and technology.
  • Driving strategic direction for IMS global deal integration, ensuring consistent processes and tools.
  • Manage and report on project issues/risks
  • Establish Change Control and escalation procedures in order to limit scope creep.
  • Lead and motivate the project team and ensure that behavioural expectations of the team members are established.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Project Management certification such as PMI/PRINCE2, although not mandatory will be highly regarded.
  • Proven track record in change management/project management, with a minimum 5 years project management/business analysis experience.
  • Excellent understanding of Middle Office Operations processes and deliverables.
  • Proven ability to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner at all levels of staff including IT developers, product and platform owners and senior management.
  • Strong time management and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated market knowledge and understanding of the required controls.
  • Industry certification will be highly regarded. (e.g. FINSIA, CFA)
  • Proven relationship and client management skills
  • A focus on risk excellence, with proven risk evaluation, mitigation and management skills
  • An ability to work effectively with senior management/stakeholders

Work Characteristics
