Job Purpose
To provide effective support to the Head of Finance and Finance Director and to be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the accounting and purchase ledger workstreams of the department.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- Line manager to the accounting and purchase ledger team members
- Setting / reviewing team member objectives through the company’s PDR process
- Responsible for coordinating month end close, including compiling and circulating the month end timetable
- Responsible for preparing the monthly management accounts for the RHA
- Responsible for preparing the monthly management fund accounts for the RHA Benevolent Fund (registered Charity)
- Management of capital expenditure process
- Balance sheet management including monthly reconciliations
- Management of daily bank reconciliations
- Responsible for company credit card management
- Preparation of quarterly VAT returns
- Preparation of staff payroll template for outsourced provider
- Validation of monthly sales commission calculations
- Prepare P11d’s using Sage P11d software
- Provide input into company KPI reporting
- Assist with the revision of company policies whereby Finance is the guardian
- Responsible for documenting, reviewing and enhancing the Finance team standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and processes
- Frequent monitoring and assessment of internal controls with regards to finance and business processes to reduce risk and increase automation and efficiency
- Ensure users have the correct access rights to financial systems
- Responsible for company insurance renewals and claims coordination
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting
- Play a pivotal role in the year-end audit
- Coordination of record keeping to retention timescales, ensuring compliance with GDPR
- Any other tasks required by the Head of Finance/ Finance Director
Key skills:
- Qualified accountant (CIMA/ ACCA/ ACA)
- Must be a people person with the ability to supervise, manage and lead staff effectively
- Strong teamwork and communication skills essential
- High proficiency in Excel
- Positive ‘can do’ attitude
- An appetite to develop or change processes to improve efficiency
- Commercially aware
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and a methodical approach
