Position is reporting to Executive Director Finance with 4 Direct reports and 22 Indirect reports


Preferred candidate is Arabic speaker, based in Qatar and with Real Estate/Property Management relevant experience


 
Role Objective:
The Accounting Director shall be responsible for: (1) managing the accounting activities of the company; (2) managing the financial reporting activities of the company, including UDC subsidiaries and associates ; (3) managing the treasury and funding requirements of the company; (4) ensuring adherence to financial processes and standards; (5) preparing financial and business analyses; and (6) implementing short & long term financial strategies of the Group, as guided by executive management;
Strategic Functions
Formulates strategic priorities and actions plans to higher Management as appropriate.
Advises higher management on the formulation of clear, consistent, and comprehensive policies and objectives related to accounting and reporting functions.
Aligns strategies with company vision and mission
Accounting and Reporting


Handles internal accounting processes (GL, tax, AP/AR, fixed assets, etc.) according to procedures



Monitors performance (vs. budgets) and produce financial reporting; identify deviations



Participates/supports all internal and external audits, and ensure compliance with regulations


Performs fiscal reporting (balance sheet, income, and cash flow statements) accurately and timely




General


· Oversees the preparation, examination, or analysis of accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.


· Directs and presents financial reports to management.
Oversees the establishment of tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts.
Develops, implements, modifies, and documents recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.
Computes taxes owed and prepares tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, or other tax requirements.
Develops, maintains, and analyzes budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
Provides internal and external auditing services for businesses or individuals.
Analyzes business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
Advises management about issues such as resource utilization, tax strategies, and the assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
Represents company before taxing authorities and provide support during litigation involving financial issues.
Oversees the preparation of forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel and direct their work activities.
Directs the appraisal, evaluation and inventory of real property and equipment, recording information such as the description, value, and location of property.
Surveys operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, or maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
Ensures timely collection of outstanding amounts and prompt resolution of issues to protect the interest of the company.
Oversees the timely processing of payments and fund management in order to meet company requirements and obligations.



Policies & Procedures


Develops and oversees the implementation of UDC's policies, procedures and controls so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.


Ensures compliance with approved safety, quality and environment programs.



Change Management


Leads and directs the management of change through continuous improvement of department's systems, processes and practices.


Ensures direction of department is cohesive and towards one direction.



Budget and Reporting


Recommends budget as per targets and objectives.


Reviews and analyzes reports and documents prepared by staff.
