The role of the finance team at Boots is critical in driving business performance and ensuring there is strong governance and controls in place in the business. There is a large Finance team at Boots, in a wide variety of roles across financial accounting, shared services, financial planning and analysis, management information and commercial business partnering. This position sits within a critical part of the business, and our finance team plays a key role business partnering with the Head of Marketing, Head of Operations, and supporting other functions. This is a fantastic opportunity to support the fastest growing area of the Retail Business. You will play a key role in business analysis and decision support to maximise operational performance in the Boots Ireland business. Overview of the role • Lead and own the management and reporting of operating costs including forecasting and budgeting. Maintain rigorous cost control, highlighting risks and opportunities as appropriate • Lead and own the finance management of boots.ie, working closely with boots.ie business partner • Manage delivery of month end including production of Board Reports, liasing with various other Finance teams e.g. Logistics and IT. • Calculate and manage the Bonus provision • Building financial understanding and capability of business partners by providing expert help in streamlining analysis and reporting as well as educating on importance of financial controls. Provide analysis and insight to highlight trends and drivers or performance. • Identify potential opportunities to maximise in year profit • Lead cross category plans and iniatives across the trading teams to improve performance. • Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders including the Heads of Marketing, Trading & Operations. • Work closely with the category finance managers to drive consistent ways of working and support to the buying teams. Your responsibilities • Accountable for the management of the ROI cost base including bonus and quality and be responsible for providing analysis and insight to highlight trends and drivers of cost control • Builds key relationships with stakeholders in the Republic of Ireland and the UK including operations directors and key finance colleagues • To assist in forecasting process and lead the cost and bonus budget process • Being an active contributor to the team development, including mentoring junior members of the team and contributing to team sessions and development days Our Ideal Candidate Will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with related finance experience in industry. You wil be a commercial thinker with the ability to communicate effectively with non-finance stakeholders and who feels comfortable challenging the status quo. The successful candidate will demonstrate: • Strong commercial awareness. • Experience in budgeting and forecasting. • Experience in Bonus accrual work/payroll finance • Ability to solve problems, remaining resilient whilst dealing with ambiguity. • Proactive approach with the ability to identify issues and drive actions through to conclusion. • Ability to hold business partners to account. • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and manage competing priorities. • Willingness to continually develop skill set and personal attributes. • Will have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to stakeholders at all levels. Building and maintaining strong relationships with finance partners will be critical to your success • Highly analytical and technically competent, with experience in reporting and reviewing the quality and accuracy of data • Will be proactive in your approach with the ability to identify issues and drive actions through to conclusion. • Have strong data manipulation and software skills including use of Excel • Be a team player What you will get from us As well as the challenge and responsibility of an integral role in the Boots Ireland Finance team, you'll find opportunities for development and progression.
