Qualified Client Accountant - Job Description
Accounts:
- Processing monthly and quarterly book-keeping transactions
- Preparing timely and accurate detailed monthly or quarterly management accounts with reconciling schedules in client requested formats
- Preparing timely and accurate statutory accounts with disclosure notes in accordance with UK GAAP or IFRS and Companies Act.
- Regular and prompt correspondence with clients via emails/telephone calls/meetings regarding various accounting queries
- Managing client bank accounts, setting up payments and providing regular balance reports
- Compiling year-end audit information on behalf of clients and liaising with clients’ auditors
- Compiling and filing VAT returns for clients
- Producing iXBRL tagged accounts for corporation tax filing purposes
- Liaising with the tax department for any corporation tax related issues
- Liaising with H M Revenue & Customs on any issues that may arise
- Training, supervising and reviewing work of junior staff
- Meeting the required deadlines and ability to multi-task on various assignments
- Drafting management accounts and year-end accounts notes/processes for new and existing clients
- Extensive experience using cloud accounting software (mainly Quickbooks Online and Xero)
- Extensive experience using CCH Accounts Production Software
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and meet deadlines
Payroll:
- Processing various clients’ payrolls from initiation to completion.
- Submission of timely RTI information to HMRC
- Reviewing payroll data entry
- Processing new starters and leavers, including termination payments and payments after leaving
- End of year processes, producing P60s and filing with HMRC
- Dealing with employee benefits and producing P11D and P11D(b) forms for submission to HMRC
- Dealing with ad-hoc payroll duties
- Liaising with HMRC regarding any queries
- Excellent knowledge of various statutory leaves (SMP, SPP, SSP etc.)
- Advising clients on various on-going developments and issues surrounding payroll taxes
- Excellent knowledge of Pension Auto Enrolment and various eligibility criteria
- Uploading pension files in required formats to Pension Providers
- Bank administration (e.g. setting up salary payments to employees, HMRC PAYE payment, preparing/reviewing cash logs etc.)
- General payroll administration duties (e.g. ordering payslips)
- Drafting and updating payroll procedures and processes for new and existing clients
- Extensive experience using IRIS Payroll Professional software
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and meet the required payroll deadlines
