This is a broad role providing support to the Management Accountant and Financial Controller in all aspects of the Finance department. The role will allow you to learn everything from double entry bookkeeping to management accounts preparation. Your role in the company will be vital to keep an official track of company spending. This is an excellent opportunity to get hands-on experience and build your career in a vibrant and postive-minded company. Your main responsibilities (but not restricted) will be as follows:

  • Processing and coding sales and purchase invoices, receipts and payments
  • Balancing sales ledger to membership dashboard website to make sure all revenue is accounted
  • Balancing purchase ledger to supplier statements and resolving queries
  • Processing staff expense claims
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Carrying out credit control and bad debt analysis
  • Maintaining the fixed assets register
  • Liaising with various company stakeholders to resolve queries
  • Assisting in the preparation of management accounts
  • Other ad hoc tasks

As a small team, duties will be varied and the successful candidate will have to be comfortable getting involved in a variety of tasks

In addition to the above, the successful candidate will also possess the following

  • An understanding of double entry book keeping
  • A flexible approach to work and good time management skills
  • Competency with MS office applications, particularly Excel and Word
  • A confident manner and the ability to communicate effectively with all staff and external parties both written and verbally
  • IT literacy and the ability to learn new applications quickly

Profile Criteria:

  1. Bright and well-spoken Accounts Assistant with solid foundation of accounts experience (min. 12-18 months)
  2. Someone who can take on a variety of tasks, placing importance on each task, no matter how small or big
  3. Someone who brings a value-add mindset who doesn't have a big ego and can fit into a team-first ethos/culture
  4. Good communication skills. The individual will be expected to liaise and communicate with various stakeholders at all levels
  5. Someone with the ambition to qualify as an accountant
