To develop and manage a compliance framework, identify legal and regulatory duties, obligations and risks, and explain their impact on the Ireland business, and ensure that they are reported, monitored, mitigated and managed in practical and effective ways, and to lead oversight of operational risk across Ireland. Compliance Identify and monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the Ireland business Analyse actual and potential impacts on the Ireland business in respect of its legal and regulatory duties and obligations, in particular the conduct of general insurance business, financial crime and data privacy Promote clear and practical understanding of legal and regulatory duties and obligations, and actual and potential risks arising therefrom Provide clear and practical explanation and advice and guidance support to managers helping them understand their responsibilities and proactively proposing solutions to compliance challenges Prepare reports on current and potential legal and regulatory duties and obligations Monitor the Ireland business systems and controls to assess their soundness and effectiveness at mitigating risk to compliance with legal and regulatory duties and obligations Advise on effective ways to manage compliance risk Support the development of Underwriting, Claims, Business Development and Risk Survey processes ensure they comply with all regulatory requirements Ensure that all documentation complies with internal and external regulatory requirements Prepare policies, standards, training and guidance relating to or connected with legal and regulatory compliance Collaborating with Group Compliance   Risk To lead oversight of Operational Risk across Ireland, establishing regulatory compliant standards and policies as required.  This includes processes, IT, third party service providers and data security Identify risks to the Ireland business, and once identified, to manage and monitor in accordance with best practice and in line with Company standards, conducting risk reviews  Advise business areas on optimal design of processes and controls, ensuring that adequate systems and controls are deployed across the Ireland business to identify, mitigate, control & monitor operational risk Represent Ecclesiastical (on operational risk) with external agencies and industry focus groups Lead development and maintenance of Aggregate Operational Risk Measures for Pillar1 and Pillar2 purposes, including relevant stress and scenario tests Support, challenge and coach business managers to enable them to manage risks effectively Ensure operational loss events and near misses are captured and reported to Group Risk Reporting to Executive Risk Committees and Group Risk Committee as required   Timely identification of developments in Ireland's legal and regulatory environment Clear and practical explanations of the impact on the Ireland business of legal and regulatory developments, and associated risks Sound and effective design, testing and analysis of the Ireland business's control environment, as it relates to compliance risk and operational risk Performance against actions assigned within compliance delivery and Compliance monitoring plan All key operational risk issues identified to ILT and Group Risk and actioned within defined SLAs Feedback from internal and external stakeholders Feedback from Group Compliance and Group Risk ACII Professional Diploma in Compliance, or equivalent professional qualification (legal, financial or risk) Sound knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment in which the Ireland business operates in (ROI and NI) Proven experience in a role engaged in a legal and regulatory environment that involved translating rules and principles into practical outcomes for a business Solid risk management experience Proven competence in general insurance in Ireland Interpersonal skills suitable to build effective relationships and to influence stakeholders at all levels Excellent communication skills (oral and written) Proven experience in designing and implementing controls, an ability to think in terms of process Demonstrates sound and commercial judgement and ability to design practical and proportionate solutions Strong analytical skills, proficient in analysing the underlying issues in complex problems Critical Thinking Skills (Watson Glaser 40 th percentile or above (will be tested))
