Puma’s core activities in the midstream sector include the supply, storage and transportation of petroleum products. Puma Energy expanded into the UK by completing the acquisition of Storage Terminals located in Westerleigh, Milford Haven, Theale & Belfast. The UK acquisition also included a wholesale and distribution business.

A full time employment opportunity has arisen based at our head office at our Westerleigh Terminal (near Bristol) for an individual seeking a challenging and rewarding career in Finance within the oil industry. We are looking to hire a Finance Business Partner who will act as the Finance Business Partner to all operational budget holders and work with department heads up to Puma Global head office level providing analysis and insight to business performance.

This is a key role within the UK finance team, reporting directly in the Financial Controller and being the senior member of the team to deputise and cover when needed.  You will also have contact internally with the UK Financial Controller, UK Leadership Team, the UK Finance Team and Global Head Office.  Cultural fit is important within Puma and along with Puma’s growth trajectory and the ‘start up’ nature of the UK business, this opportunity may well offer a refreshing change from an established corporate function and environment.   

You will be a qualified accountant (ACCA or CIMA), have the ability to communicate across all levels of the organisation, and have excellent MS Office skills particularly Excel.  Experience of HFM and NAV would be an advantage but not essential.  The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently as well as in a team, within a dynamic and challenging environment and fast paced culture.  You will have the ability to perform successfully under pressure and be a self -starter who takes a proactive approach and is comfortable with bringing their own ideas to the table.  You must also feel comfortable and able to adapt in a constantly changing environment, display natural dynamism and be happy to be involved with a multitude of tasks.

Key Responsibilities of the role include;

  • Working closely with UK Financial Controller to deliver the monthly accounts and forecast accurately, on time and with relevant insight,
  • Compile and review monthly performance review presentations for UK Finance Manager,
  • Finance business partnering;
    • Analyze, understand and report the fixed cost performance of the business with department heads
    • Preparation and follow up of accruals
    • Ownership of the monthly forecast and annual budgeting process
    • CAPEX controlling and forecasting
  • Communicate performance reports to stakeholders each month,
  • Provide guidance to finance intern,
  • Daily use of NAV accounting system, JET reports and HFM reporting tool.
