This is an ENO role in the Fixed Income Structured Notes TOM Products Business Control ("BC") team within the Product Control department in London encompassing the Interest Rate, Foreign Exchange, Credit and Commodities note issuances. The main responsibilities of BC are advising and independently challenging key stakeholders on accounting and valuation matters impacting the financial statements, including daily P&L and balance sheet movements. As such, this BC team owns the face-off to the Front Office trading management, and other support departments such as Market Risk Management (MRM), Accounting Policy Group (APAG), Financial Accounting (FA), Middle Office and Operations. Team members of BC generally have extensive product control experience and deep product knowledge that allows them to make decisions that requires a high level of judgment and also performs more demanding analytical reviews. The BC team provides qualitative, analytical, value-add service to the business and are accountable for the financial results. In addition to being an integral control function, business controllers are commercial in their approach when collaborating with their business partners on a daily basis.

The FI Structured Notes TOM Products Business Control team in London is seeking a talented professional at the ENO level. The core focus of this role is to execute business controls covering the challenging FI Structured Notes business in EMEA, based in London.

The role will assist in the following BC's responsibilities:

ACCOUNTABILITY FOR FINANCIAL RESULTS
  • Validate Daily P&L calculated by Line Control
  • Produce daily commentary for trade groups including commentary for variances with estimate
  • Produce Weekly P&L and Monthly P&L cut by MIS and legal entity
  • Complete / Review Weekly New Deal Template
Balance sheet analysis
  • Monthly Balance Sheet Review (PC owned accounts)
  • Inventory analysis
  • Fair Value Levelling
  • Fair Value Option
  • Analytical Review of month on month trends and cross referencing with market and business knowledge
Facilitate new business
  • Support New Business initiatives
  • Ensure Pre-Trade Approval and Structured Trade Review processes operate effectively
  • Acquire a detailed understanding of all significant new deals and their associated risks
  • Ensure all caps and caveats are adhered to
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP accounting rules
  • Ensure Line Control are brought into the process in their capacity as SMEs for system flows
Manage relationship with front office senior management team
  • Act as the key contact for FO business queries
  • Partner FO on strategic decisions and effect change quickly
Business control
  • Be accountable for Business Control KPI Scorecards
  • Monitor progress of Business Control against pre-defined success criteria
  • Perform and evidence Supervisory Controls in accordance with SOX guidance
  • Comply with all internal policies and procedures in accordance with the Governance framework
Change agenda
  • Identify opportunities to develop & streamline analytical activities and to improve controls
  • Participate on all strategic change initiatives initiated by the FO
  • Set Business Requirements and perform Systems/UAT testing
