What this job is really like : Jobs like this involve leading and mentoring a team in the analysis of claims performance and the development, implementation and monitoring of market-leading claims control solutions. You will spend your time providing a high level of technical, financial and analytical expertise and leadership, and acting as the source of knowledge and expertise for the control of indemnity spend expense and management of insurance risk across claims. The role involves influencing and building substantial claims strategies to ensure claims insurance risk is considered and effectively handled. You will work with your team and across Claims and the wider organisation, both locally and globally, to ensure the risk framework is embedded and risks are being handled across RSAII and RSANI claims in line with risk appetite. You will provide leadership to the team to ensure key risks to delivery of claims objectives are identified and proportionate mitigating governance, controls, monitoring and reporting are in place. You will have positive relationship building, influencing and interpersonal skills, supported by networking with internal and external contacts. What you will be responsible for: Analysis of trends and issues in claims to support technical teams, pricing and reserving in actions and decision-making Growing the breadth and depth of technical performance across RSA Claims Operations using QA/QC process control and improvement techniques to present actionable insight for solution development. Developing claims risk and control strategies, plans, policies and processes in support of technical strategies and plans. The monitoring, challenge and support of processes to identify, assess, document and handle claims risks, ensuring appropriate controls/responses are in place and monitored including: Our RSA Claims Policy and underlying frameworks Group Minimum Requirement for Case Reserving Claims Licence & Control processes External delegation of Claims Authority All governance related processes within RSAII Claims Being a key contact for GIA, Risk, Financial Control and Regulatory Compliance including collaborating with external auditors and regulatory bodies. Developing and driving the implementation of claims review and audit plans, methodologies and supporting delivery against business targets Acting as technical authority and providing advice to our Claims Executive and Governance Committees on the resolution of claims control issues, including our Financial Control Framework, Leakage, Group Mandatory Control Reports and risk events Independent monitoring of Claims Saving Initiative performance Managing expenses and costs across RSA Ireland Claims to remain within budget Recruiting, managing, mentoring, developing and motivating the Claims Insight & Control department to ensure delivery of the required standards of performance now and in the future.
