A small wealth management business (Financial Services) based in London are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join their growing team. The Assistant Accountant will provide support to the FC and CFO, with main responsibilities including both statutory and regulatory reporting as well as internal reporting.

A Financial Services business based within the City of London specialising in family wealth management, are looking to add an Assistant Accountant to join their finance team.

Description

Assistant Accountant Key Responsibilities : -

  • To assist the Financial Controller to ensure that the finance function runs smoothly and operates effectively so clients are invoiced (and cash collected), supplier's bills are processed (and paid) and cash accounts reconciled in a timely and efficient manner and journals are input to the accounting system
    • Financial Accounting
    • To assist the Financial Controller to ensure that appropriate financial accounting records are maintained and fully reconciled on an appropriate system that can be used to prepare Annual Accounts and other periodic statements and returns
    • Management Accounting
    • To assist the Financial Controller with the development and maintenance of management information that provides management with the necessary data and analysis to manage the strategic direction and daily control of the business
    • Regulatory and Statutory Reporting
    • To assist the Financial Controller to ensure that the regulated companies prepare, submit and, where appropriate, have audited all periodic returns, reports and analyses. Liaise with auditors and all other parties to deal with and resolve all issues as necessary
    • Manage external Relationships
    • Develop and maintain a close and effective relationship with all those responsible for providing an external interface with the finance function. This includes the auditors (BDO), tax advisors (BDO), bankers (Barclays, Coutts and RBSI), the FC and HMRC (Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs). Deal with all parties in an open, transparent and co-operative way
    • Internal Relationships
    • Develop and maintain a close relationship with those responsible for providing information and data to the Finance Function. Ensure that where information is both received and given, is reviewed for relevance, completeness and accuracy
    • Strive to be a "value-added" source of information and assistance and one whose input is sought, valued and respected
    • Act with honesty, integrity and due skill, care and diligence in carrying out all responsibilities
    • Ensure the interests of clients and the business are put before your own by fully understanding and complying with the spirit and letter of all laws, regulations, compliance, risk policies and procedures that apply to the business
    • Help reinforce risk and control culture; escalate issues accordingly
    • Limit operational losses by ensuring adherence to procedures, due care and attention to detail

    Profile

    • Studying towards ACCA/CIMA
    • 2 years of experience
    • Strong communication (oral and written)
    • Personable; able to establish and develop collaborative relationships with clients, colleagues and third parties
    • A confident and dependable team player who is willing to go the extra mile
    • Willingness to take the initiative
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks to set deadlines through effective time management
    • Analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
    • Deadline driven and committed to high quality output
    • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement in the systems, processes and procedures and communicate these to others
    • Highest levels of honesty and integrity
    • Strong IT skills including MS Office
    • Holder of degree education level from accredited institution preferred
    • Desire and intent to improve accounting knowledge and expertise and to complete the accountancy qualification
