This is an opportunity for a part qualified accountant to develop their knowledge, skills. experience and advance their career, playing an important part in supporting the development and tracking of a multitude of project budgets across the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).

Whether it is taking enforcement action against drug firms accused of over-charging the NHS, investigating hotel booking sites to check their customers are getting the best deal for them or launching a major study into the care homes industry, what we do makes a difference to people's lives.

As a Project Accountant, you will work closely with finance colleagues and business managers in this business-facing role, using good technical knowledge and excellent communication skills in providing sound financial advice to key internal stakeholders, including other central functions such as HR, IT and Facilities.

The role will involve the preparation of monthly management reports along with the investigation of trends, analytical review and interpretation of data to provide input into the creation of business plans and forecasts, and the subsequent tracking of performance. This role supports delivery of the Government Finance Profession's objective of embedding finance at the heart of the business.

The role will also require the post-holder to gain a good understanding of the organisation and active projects to support the business managers with finance-related issues and queries.

The ideal candidate will be a minimum part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent) with experience of strategic finance/financial management (planning, budgeting, forecasting, and in-year reporting).

If you are financially aware, with strong quantitative and analytical skills, including intermediate/advanced Excel skills for data analysis, modelling and reporting, we would be delighted to hear from you.
