General Accountant Job Summary: The general accountant will provide technical support, which includes but not limited to assisting with the financial month end close process and ensuring the Company's financial reporting time lines are met. Duties Include: Maintenance of fixed assets register ensuring that all assets added are in line with the company FA policies. Ensure that asset purchases are updated on the register in a timely manner in time for month end processing. Liaise with the Facilities team to ensure that all company assets are tagged and reflected on the register. Monthly processing of depreciation expenses in line with the company FA policies. Monthly Reconciliation of FA GL accounts with FA assets register. Validate that all cheques/Payments by the Accounts Payables Clerk are recorded in quick books and applied to the relevant invoices in time for the month end close process. Assist with the review of work done by the Accounts payables clerk in the absence of the Finance Manager. Preparation of balance sheet accounts reconciliation as assigned, which includes investigation of and providing resolution for discrepancies identified. Detailed reconciliation of the company's bank account on a monthly basis Monthly expense variance analysis for assigned accounts. Interfacing with LOB and support managers and assist with the handling and resolution of queries. Confirmation of monthly IC balances with the respective counterparts. Maintain assigned GL accounts and preparation of monthly journal entries. Preparation of detailed journal for staff health insurance ensuring proper classification and accuracy. Prepare monthly schedule for Major expense accounts. Analyzing and reporting of variances and fluctuation for assigned accounts Assist with ensuring compliance with organizational policies by assisting with developing and maintaining respective processes and procedures. Preparation and submission of assigned reports in adherence with specified timelines. Assist with Finance Related projects and ad hoc reporting as needed. Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Currently pursuing accounting certification. Minimum of 5 years progressive accounting experience. Comprehensive knowledge of GL and Balance sheet reconciliations and analysis. Working knowledge of various accounting tools including Excel. Self-motivated and be able to work independently.
