Wages & Transactional Team Leader

The successful person will be responsible for managing the Purchase & Sales ledgers, as well as calculating the monthly Payroll (c230 permanent staff). As the business grows you will have the opportunity to take on new skills to develop your accounting experience. During the next 6 to 12 months there will be multiple projects underway, such as the implementation of a new ERP system which will initially run parallel to the current Sage system. It is important that this person has good system skills as you will be using two systems until the new system is fully integrated.

Job details as follows

• This role will be reporting to the Finance Manager with a dotted line to the Financial Controller.
• Responsible for supervising the nominal ledger function, covering both the sales and purchase ledger, to include some credit control duties. Currently sending c200 sales invoices and processing a similar number of purchase invoices on a monthly basis, which will increase over time as the Company grows
• Daily & weekly bank management and reconciliations, plus cash flow forecasting
• Calculation of payroll using Sage 50 payroll to include all the normal entries/adjustments/pension contributions/HMRC/PAYE/statutory deductions etc.
• Assisting Finance Manager with various reporting requirements for the business
• Communicating with various people across the business to collate the necessary information required to feed into the finance function
• One direct report (Ledger clerk)

Skills/Experience

• AAT part/fully qualified or equivalent experience
• Proven experience in a similar role managing ledgers - Essential
• Previous payroll experience essential, calculating the necessary adjustments with regards to HMRC, NI, PAYE etc
• Must have good IT skills, including Excel and Sage 50 payroll - Advantageous
• Good communication and analytical skills - Essential
• Good team player, would suit someone who enjoys getting involved with new projects
