Contract type
Full time
Take ownership and accountability of the government and public affairs strategy in the EMEA region, with a particular emphasis on UK and Ireland.

You will ensure that Macquarie has a strong and fit-for-purpose relationship with relevant governments, raising our profile in the region, and enabling the company to tell its story coherently and consistently to decision-makers and influencers in government and beyond. You will work across Macquarie Group with a particular focus on the work of the Green Investment Group, recently acquired by Macquarie Group from the UK Government.

You will ensure that the Group's strong, productive relationship with government is maintained and continues to grow under private ownership. You will support the business' expansion into new investment markets, providing advice and support from a government perspective to ensure the business is able to take the opportunities offered to the company by government policy initiatives in green finance. You will also manage the relationship between the company and one of its key stakeholders: the Green Purposes Company, which holds a 'special share' in the Green Investment Group.

Reporting to the Regional Head of Corporate Communications and working closely with your counterparts in Australia, Asia, and the Americas, you will advise the business on how best to engage with governments to ensure that the business maximises the commercial benefit of having strong external relationships. You will lead on ensuring that governments and other stakeholders understand what Macquarie has to offer and on understanding and playing back external views and concerns. In addition, you will provide support to the regional CEO in his personal engagement with Ministers, Parliamentarians and other senior leaders.

You will have extensive experience of having worked in government, Parliament or in a similar Government Affairs role at a senior level in a corporate or agency setting and will be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of how decisions are made and how they can be influenced. You will also be 'hands-on' and ready to take a flexible approach to your work, and to work across the full spectrum of Macquarie's business activities.

If this sounds like you, we're looking forward to hearing from you. Please apply now!
