Hill Crest Behavioral Health Services is the only freestanding, full-service psychiatric hospital in the Birmingham area. We treat mental illness, emotional problems, and adults with chemical dependency. Hill Crest BHS currently has a Staff Accountant – Payroll position available. The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He/she will perform the overall accounting and payroll process, prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports; and handle all inquiries related to payroll. The candidate must exhibit a positive attitude when dealing with others in day-to-day situations; maintain strict confidential standards; a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail; and experience with KRONOS Timekeeping and Lawson Payroll is a plus. Duties and Accountabilities: Processes bi-weekly payroll for over 400 employees; reviews all timesheets for accuracy; and balances hours and deductions in preparation for payroll processing. Coordinates efforts among human resources, payroll, accounting, and other entities to ensure accurate flow of employee data/information. Completes daily, weekly, and bi-weekly FTE reports, daily census reports, and other detailed reports required by the CFO. Manages the electronic timekeeping system (KRONOS) by setting up each employee in accordance with FLSA and facility pay practices. Handles routine inquiries, informational needs and miscellaneous requests from facility units. Prepares and inputs monthly ledger journal entries and statistics and ensures that monthly closings are consistent and accurate. Assists in various assigned financial analyses of revenues and expenditures including the explanation of significant variances. Assists in identifying and evaluating opportunities for cost savings in the various operating expense categories. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred and or equivalent school and work experience will be considered. Must be proficient in using MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and Internet Explorer. Three plus yearsexperience in performing all payroll functions Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure and deadlines.
