Primary Objectives

Norms, Advisory and Control (NAC) team within Finance (DFIN) department is a group of accounting, regulatory and assurance experts that uphold Société Générale (SG) Group's accounting & regulatory standards and independently supervise effectiveness of controls framework. NAC strategically act as 'Second Line of Defence' (Level 2) in DFIN which fulfils the Group's regulator requirement.

This role bases in Hong Kong, regional hub of Asia Pac, which also has a team of NAC with the regional finance team. The successful candidate exposes to variety of SG business in the region (e.g. corporate & investment banking, brokerage, global transaction banking) and acts as interlocutors with senior managers and management on different subjects.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this controller include:

Regional Regulatory Reporting Risk Assessment

  • Maintain aggregate view on Asia regulatory reporting risk (e.g. through regulatory reporting's key performance indicators, operational incidents, anomalies identified in I2C…etc) for both local reports produced in Asia and contribution from Asia of main group regulatory reporting metrics
  • Review completeness and quality of control framework for regulatory reporting process (from operational controls to formalized controls in group permanent supervision tool) to mitigate regulatory risk
Lead & Steer Asia's Regulatory Reporting Spot Check Roadmap
  • Define control testing ('Spot Check') roadmap that mitigate regulatory risk to tolerable level
  • Conduct Spot Check on risky regulatory reporting controls and processes (by means of walkthrough, re-performance and sample check) to give opinion on the quality of control design and performance
  • Propose improvement recommendation on any ineffective control and agree recommendation with auditee
  • Partner with controllers in local Finance and Global Service Centre to steer regulatory control framework and to consolidate all Spot Check results for a regional view
  • Regularly update on regional spot check roadmap status (by KPI dashboard) & regulatory risk alerts to local CFO, regional CFO and NAC Paris
Projects
  • Actively involve to define target level 2 regulatory reporting framework to oversee local regulatory reporting and contribution from Asia of main group regulatory report metrics
  • Independently review & assess local regulatory report production (Level 1) in the region to define target Level 2 framework


Profile




Key Skill Areas & Knowledge Required

  • University graduate in Accounting, Finance or Business school
  • 8+ years previous work experience or knowledge in Internal / External Audit of Financial Institution, Finance
  • Preferably a certified accountant
  • Ability to work in transformational project is a key
  • Good communication skills in both verbal and written
  • Highly motivated and team player
  • Proficient in Excel with knowledge in VBA an advantage
  • Knowledge of new digital technology / data visualization tools an advantage
