Wellington Management offers comprehensive investment management capabilities that span nearly all segments of the global capital markets. Our investment solutions, tailored to the unique return and risk objectives of institutional clients in more than 50 countries, draw on a robust body of proprietary research and a collaborative culture that encourages independent thought and healthy debate. As a private partnership, we believe our ownership structure fosters a long-term view that aligns our perspectives with those of our clients.
POSITION
International Tax Analyst
The Company
Tracing our roots to 1928, Wellington Management Company, LLP is one of the world's largest independent investment management firms. With over US$1 trillion in assets under management, we serve as a trusted adviser to institutional clients and mutual fund sponsors in over 50 countries. Our innovative investment solutions are built on the strength of proprietary, independent research and span nearly all segments of the global capital markets, including equity, fixed income, multi-asset, and alternative strategies. As a private partnership whose sole business is investment management, our long-term views and interests are aligned with those of our clients. We are committed to attracting a talented and diverse workforce, and to fostering an open, collaborative culture of inclusivity because we believe multiple perspectives lead to more informed investment and business decisions. As an Equal Opportunity Employer, we welcome people with diverse life experiences, fresh ideas, and specialized subject-matter expertise.
Wellington Management International Limited is Wellington's London office, which was established in 1983. It has over 300 employees and is a full service office, with all functional areas of the firm represented. The firm has its headquarters in Boston with offices around the US, as well as international offices in Frankfurt, Luxembourg, Zurich, Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing, Tokyo, Sydney and Toronto.
International Tax
The International Tax team is a group of three tax lawyers and accountants based in London and Boston whose work touches every aspect of Wellington Management's business globally.
The team advises the firm and the firm's sponsored funds on non-US tax issues arising on international investments (equity and fixed income), on structuring the funds that make such investments and on tax issues that may affect our clients. The team is also involved in advising on international tax in relation to separate account client issues, including negotiation of Investment Management Agreements, and advising Wellington Management Group LLP and its affiliates in relation to the group structure, taxation of profits globally and employee benefit plans. If there is a non-US tax element to any part of our business, the International Tax team is involved.
The successful candidate will see all aspects for Wellington Management's business, and have the opportunity to work in a global team and advise on international tax issues. Some international travel may be required.
The Position
We are seeking to recruit a tax professional to join the London International Tax team as a Tax Analyst. The ideal candidate should have between 2 and 5 years of practical multijurisdictional tax consulting and compliance experience (or equivalent) gained at a top tier accounting or law firm and familiarity with international fund structures.
The work is broad-based international tax work, and the candidate need not have expertise in all the areas outlined below - the capacity to ask questions and learn quickly is equally, if not more, important.
The role will include, but may not be limited to:
Skills
We work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and the candidate will need to be self-motivated and extremely organized and efficient in their approach to work. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to be able to effectively articulate complex tax concepts to others around the business. We greatly value collaboration within teams and across departments, and so strong people skills and the ability to build trust and good working relationships is essential. The candidate must also have excellent MS Excel proficiency.
