Analyst, Front Office, Commodities

Working on the trading floor as a Front Office Analyst within the Energy and Bulk Commodities team, you will be managing the risks associated with complex structures that involve a mix of physical & financial commodities as well as funding transactions.

Opportunity to start your career in Front Office, you will be required to have strong mathematical / analytical skills, and highly detail oriented with some exposure to physical commodities (oil / refinery) business.

The key responsibilities within this role will be;

New transactions
• Work with Structuring to understand clients' needs and provide tailored product and solution
• Assess physical, financial, credit and operational risks associated to new transactions and possible hedges/mitigants /risk-recycling opportunities
• Review feasibility of new transactions in terms of operations and booking
• Negotiate physical parameters in contract
• Liaise with whole front-to-back deal team during the setup and executions of transactions, including external counsels
• Pricing of initial and future funding requirements
• Ensure all documentations are in place and commodity specs and locations are as agreed before trade execution

Book Management
• Book/amend physical trades to reflect full deal lifecycle and liaise with internal support functions to ensure completeness
• Manage any open price risk through TAS and other financial instruments
• Ensure physical and paper positions are correctly captured in systems at all time
• Manage funding requirement of the overall portfolio
• Review trading pnl
• Manage scheduling
• Supervise payments of cargos, sales and associated costs (demurrage, port costs and freight) invoices
• Inventory monitoring and reporting on daily basis and ensure inventory limits are respected with regards to insurance limits; reconcile inventories to internal system
• Manage terminal and warehouse inspections and ship vetting process using independent inspection and ship vetting companies.
• Participate and assist in IT projects relating to developments for physical commodities business
• Verify and agree supplier's cargo purchase contracts
• Produce management information on transactions for senior management
• Standardise and streamline processes to enable scalability of the platform

Preferred Qualifications and Experience
• Some understanding of physical commodity and asset-backed financing
• Good Front to Back understanding of the Business Model
• Internal processes (Credit, Market Risk, Regulatory Capital, Product Control, Operations, Insurance, etc)
• External processes (Inspection Agents, Assayers etc.)
• Understanding of the role third parties have in our business in terms of oversight and control.
• Strong communication skills, enthusiastic, fast learner
• Commercially minded
