FTSE listed business based in Farnborough is recruiting a European Tax Manager reporting to the Group Head of Tax.

The role is broad, increasing the awareness of the impact of tax on the business and delivering genuine value to the organisation.

My client, in the retail sector in Surrey, is a fast growth FTSE listed business.

Description

Key responsibilities in the European Tax Manager role based in Surrey include:

* Supporting with IFRS and UK FRS101 tax reporting requirements;

* Preparation of UK corporation tax returns and management of outsourced compliance, including the provision of information to external tax advisers;

* Oversight of the tax compliance and reporting position of the Group's subsidiaries. This will involve travel in Europe and proactively engaging with the various businesses to support them on tax audits, establish and monitor group tax policies & guidelines and support local business units;

* Assisting the Head of Tax in the planning & implementation of a range of projects, including group tax accounting, transfer pricing and country-by-country reporting;

* Support in the preparation and update of governance and risk documents (such as Senior Accounting Officer in the UK), and provide support to fix any tax control weaknesses and work with other areas of finance/the business to ensure that appropriate procedures are in place;

* Supporting the Group VAT Manager in undertaking and following up internal VAT audits in the UK and in Europe, ensuring that action points are completed (no prior in-depth VAT knowledge is required);

* Assist with the design and implementation of VAT self-assessment packs in the UK and Europe, collating and analysing results and making recommendations for follow up points to the Group VAT Manager.

* Involvement in preparation and maintenance of tax strategy;

* Keeping up to date with developments in tax and ensure the business is aware of the impact of any new requirements.

Profile

The ideal candidate will be CTA/ACA (or equivalent) qualified with at least one year's post-qualification experience. Ideally you will be from a Big 4 or Top Tier firm, or be looking for your next step up from an in-house position.

* A solid understanding of UK and global tax principles including transfer pricing guidelines.

* Preferably some tax experience gained in respect of more than one jurisdiction in EMEA.

* A broad understanding of employment tax and VAT matters would also be desirable.

Essential skills include:

* The ability to build and maintain excellent relationships.

* Strong communication skills and an ability to explain tax concepts to non-tax people.

* Be a strong team player.

* Proficiency with MS Office, including an advanced level of skill in MS Excel.

Job Offer

Salary to £60,000 plus car allowance and generous benefits package and bonus
