This is a role for 12 months in a law firm in London as part of the collection team. This role will be a Legal credit controller covering for maternity.

Page are prod to work with this growing Law firm in the heart of London with an opportunity for a Legal credit controller to join the accountancy team.

Description

The main responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with the team to ensure that our internal processes are correctly followed, including the production and distribution of collection letters and emails, confirming all details are correct and sending to clients/third party debtors.
  • Effectively managing your daily to-do list, ensuring that reminders sent to debtors are followed up in accordance with our internal processes. Escalating the files to the Disputes team where appropriate. Keeping the Senior Revenue Manager informed of any concerns with regards to problem debtors or problematic internal clients.
  • Communicating with the firm's Partners and Fee Earners, acting upon their responses to the automated daily chaser alerts, keeping the collection system up to date always, whilst also maintaining an organised diary to keep on top of any debt where reminders are being held.
  • Arranging and conducting regular meetings with debt responsible Partners and Fee Earners, reviewing clients debt by age and amount.
  • Allocating funds paid into our bills bank account, accessing the account via online banking, and transferring into the firms account once the funds have been identified and updating the practice management system with the daily receipts. Working closely with the Treasury Team where necessary and performing a weekly excel reconciliation of the bank account for the Treasury Team Supervisor.
  • Assisting with the daily allocation of cheques received in settlement of bills, ensuring that banking deadlines are met.
  • Dealing with client requests for copy bills, bank details or passing requests to Fee Earners for breakdowns as well as confidently resolving queries directly with clients where possible. Receiving payments due via credit/debit cards via telephone.
  • Assisting with the E-billing process for those clients that work that way. Checking that our invoices contain the correct information and ensuring that they are submitted electronically to the relevant E-billing service provider in a timely manner (OB10/Tungsten, Serengeti etc).
  • Helping the team during busy periods in the preparation, amendment and sending out of client invoices as required.
  • Assisting the team during the VAT quarter in chasing receipted counsel fee notes from barristers chambers and clearing these through the system once received

Profile

The successful Legal credit controller will have:

  • High levels of client liaison contact and interaction.
  • Ability to deal with emails, telephone calls and in-person queries, in a polite and efficient manner.
  • Assisting all members of the wider Finance department where possible.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines occasionally when transactions must be completed in a short period of time.
  • At least two year's experience at Credit Controller level, operating within a similar sized legal team.
  • Experience in using a Practice Management System, able to make use of systems, previous knowledge of Aderant or Elite is highly desirable.
  • Confident in working with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience of engaging with Partners and Fee Earners and demonstrable examples of debt meetings and client liaison.
  • Proactive team player with an enthusiastic manner, who takes a flexible, 'can-do' approach to work.
  • Confident in working autonomously/independently to meet ever-changing deadlines.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to prioritise and organise workloads effectively.
  • A willing and adaptable aptitude to provide support to the team when necessary, during busy periods or times of absence.
  • Eager to contribute to firm events, projects, steering groups and committees.Keen to support any relevant initiative or system implementation.
  • Results driven.

Job Offer

Legal credit controller will receive a competitive salary between £28,000 and £30,000.
