The opportunity:
An excellent opportunity for a part qualified accountant to join the Investment Accounting & Tax Team within the UK Life Investments Department as an Assistant Accountant.
The role will focus on providing effective support for the delivery of accurate investment accounting data to Group on a monthly and quarterly basis, the Solvency II regulatory reporting and the local year-end processes whilst also supporting the oversight of activity that has been outsourced to external service providers.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Reporting
- Support delivery of Investment related Quantitative Reporting Templates (QRTs) for Solvency II quarterly reporting
- Perform reconciliation of Investment QRTs to underlying financial statements
- Analysis of invested asset data including analytical review relative to prior periods
Group Reporting
- Ensure investment holdings are accounted for correctly in ZAL quarterly submission to Group
- Delivery of accurate statistical information to Financial Reporting ('FR’)
- Post manual journals to SAP relating to retained tasks
- Respond to review queries from Senior Managers and FR
- Support maintenance of robust SOX controls environment
Local Statutory Reporting
- Support preparation of ZAL Annual Financial Statements, including data analysis and reconciliation
- Assist with external audit
Oversight
- Assist with oversight of external and internal Service Providers in relation to Investment Accounting, Tax and Unit Pricing
- Monitor deliverables from Service Providers
- Work across Unit Pricing and Oversight Teams to resolve issues that span both Teams
Other
- Assist with responses to Service Provider and other internal ad hoc queries
- Support internal or regulatory change projects
Your skills and experience:
- Investment accounting experience preferred but not essential
- Working knowledge of SAP preferred
- Working knowledge of MS Excel
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and ability to problem solve
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Ability to manage a number of tasks and prioritise accordingly
