The Job

Based in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, near Stoke-on-Trent, firm of accountants are looking for a semi-senior to join their team, working with a range of accounts processes for SME’s, LTD Companies and Sole Traders.

When you start out on your accounts career, one of the first questions that you must ask yourself is whether to work in industry or practice. Like pretty much everything in life there are pros and cons to both avenues.

But what if you have started down one route and want to change. Usually, it is difficult to make the switch to practice because you need experience. And you sometimes can’t get experience without experience. It’s a vicious circle. This does not apply to this job though! Uniquely, this job does not require previous experience of working within a practice if you went down the other route - if you have experience of working with control accounts, VAT and Profit and Loss then they would be able to utilise these skills and give you exposure in a practice environment.

However, this company is in a position where if someone was studying AAT and was looking for their first break into accounts then this could be perfect for you. whatever your background you will be producing draft accounts, dealing with client’s bookkeeping and VAT returns, getting involved in corporate tax returns, as well as other ad hoc duties. Systems-wise you will be using Xero and Sage, training will be provided.

This job will provide training and exposure to accounts practices. You will have your study funded; that’s course fees, materials, and exams. They will also let you have time off to attend the course.
