My client based in Surrey is looking for a commercially minded Finance Director to join their senior management team. This role will be responsible for managing the day to day transactions for the business whilst having an operational focus to ensure the company has sufficient procedures and controls in place.

Key Responsibilities:

• Actively contribute to define, plan and execute the strategic agenda to create long term business value.
• Have responsibility for underpinning financial management and information.
• Support the business in driving revenues and margins in the further development of the business.
• Build and lead a high performance finance function through strong leadership, enabling the team to support key business decisions with financial data.
• Provide detailed financial planning for the future growth.
• Ensure that financial systems are appropriate to the scale and complexity of the business and continue to develop accurate and timely information.
• Maintain the highest standards of compliance and financial control.
• Lead and drive strong risk management within the function and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Develop and oversee accounting policies and procedures to ensure that results are reported appropriately and on a timely basis.
• Manage the external audit relationship.
• Formulating and managing annual budgets and targets.
• Overall control of all financial transactions and accountancy matters, including audit systems, on a daily basis.
• Preparation and submission of weekly and monthly updates.
• Review of accounts and investigation of variances then setting recovery plans.
• Treasury matters.
• Capital expenditure – evaluation and preparation of submissions.
• Insurance/ risk management.
• Setting annual cost rates and prices for customers.
• Close involvement in commercial negotiations with customers.
• Formulation, and ensuring implementation of Credit Control Policy.
• Supporting the Operations Teams in product costing and margin analysis, as required.
• Budgeting for, reporting & monitoring capital expenditure: plan vs. actual.
• Company pension schemes, including liaising with final salary pension scheme Trustees on behalf of the Company.

Key Skills:
Qualified accountant with ACA, ACCA or CIMA accreditation.
Minimum of 7 years post qualification practical accounting experience.
Proven track record of delivering stretching targets, able to drive business improvement through rigorous analysis and interpretation of the numbers.
Good business acumen with up to date knowledge of best practice and in-depth understanding of the accounting standards.
Strong team leader, with proven track record in developing talent.
