REED in Bromley are exclusively looking for a Payroll Administrator on a full time permanent basis to start as soon as possible.

Purpose of job


Working within the Pensions Department dealing mainly with the administration of the pensioner payroll and any changes that may affect it. Build knowledge and capability across the whole of the payroll function, in order to support the wider team and ensure a high level of customer service on all levels within regulatory timescales.

Key Responsibilities
• To ensure that all monthly adjustments to the payroll i.e. joiners/revisions, are completed accurately and within the given time frames
• To ensure that payments/payment requests/deductions are recorded and made in accordance with policy and procedure
• To ensure the correct amount of tax is paid to HMRC at all times i.e understanding and dealing with any over/under paid tax across differing tax years
• Dealing with all forms of pensioner communication, whether via letter, phone or on a face to face basis
• All contractual obligations within remit regarding regulatory duties are met
• To continually look to improve processes and suggest changes where need be to ensure work is undertaken in an efficient manner
• To ensure full compliance with statutory requirements and financial regulations
• Setting up new pensioners on the payroll system both manually and via any interfaces or imports.
• Responsible for reconciling the monthly payroll including various monthly reports i.e. monthly manual payments
• Dealing with any complex calculations in respect of over payments
• Ensuring all End of Year procedures and reporting are carried out correctly and within statutory timescales
• Producing journals to input onto the accounting system as and when necessary to ensure the payroll records reconcile with the accounting system

Candidate Specification
• Minimum of 2 years experience within Payroll
• Demonstrable payroll experience. Pensions experience desirable but not essential as training will be given
• Working knowledge of UK tax and statutory payments, pensions and year end reporting
• Ability to understand technical payroll queries as well as general queries within the team
• Good interpersonal skills both oral and written
• Ability to use IT applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
