Overall Purpose of the Role
To manage the Savings team in achieving objectives and activities in a high-volume environment. Ensure effectiveness of all operating processes and compliance with the Bank’s policies and procedures. Deliver excellence in customer service, personally and through the Savings team; champion the principles of 'treating customers fairly’. Strive to adopt 'right first time’ and 'continuous improvement’ methodologies.
Key Accountabilities:
Day-to-day processes: Responsibility for managing the Savings team function to ensure an excellent end-to-end saver experience. Manage the deposit client base and oversee all customer requests are met inside of SLA milestones.
Staff Management: Manage, motivate, support and develop all members of the Savings team. Recruit appropriately skilled staff in order to reach deposit volumes set out in the Bank’s budget. Ensure the relevant Job Profiles are updated and staff appraisals and objective setting activities are carried out and agree personal development plans with all team members.
Savings Accounts: Responsibility for ensuring that accounts are opened and maintained appropriately. Tasks including: to undertake twice monthly direct debit (DD) claims, process credits to accounts, delivery of the annual statement run, supply of interest certificates and management of withdrawal processes. Liaise with the Head of Savings and MLRO on any new accounts with verification failures, mailings, complaints, returns and staffing considerations.
Anti-Money Laundering: Lead the process to ensure all savers, beneficial owners and their nominated accounts are verified at the onboarding phase and ongoing due diligence is undertaken in line with the Bank’s policy framework.
Banking processes: Be responsible for Bank reconciliations, maintain a good knowledge of transactions and sign off when complete. Release payments: including DD claims, interest payments and the return of client funds.
Banking System: Oversee quality of data ensuring appropriate validation/checks are undertaken. Deal with account payments and other non-standard issues.
Planning and resourcing: Ensure sufficient resource and materials are available during peak periods to maintain performance against key performance indicators set out in the Bank’s Business Plan.
Manuals & Guides: Ownership of all Savings team operational manuals (to include the Business Continuity Plan) used for the setting out of the Bank's processes and ensuring that they are kept up to date, accurate, efficient and reduce risk to acceptable levels.
Reporting: Responsible for producing regular and ad hoc Ml on savings related matters as requested. Complete regulatory returns on time to the required compliance standard. Overseeing HMRC (Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs) reporting. Input into the annual CITR (Community Interest Tax Relief) return and support the Single Customer View {"SCV") as required; undertake elementary WILF (database tool) report writing and maintenance, as necessary.
Other requirements: Keep up to date with the Bank’s savings accounts, interest rates and Terms and Conditions for both personal and non-personal. Raise change requests when required and implement and test improvements all to improve customer experience.
Projects: Represent the Savings team on bank wide projects.
Ideal Experience

Over 3 years’ relevant experience with a strong background in banking or similar organisation

Proven record in management and leadership of an operational team in a regulated environment

Knowledge of Anti Money Laundering frameworks

Experience of core banking systems
