Fantastic opportunity to join a leading independent school for boys and girls aged 3 to 11.

My client is seeking an Accounts Assistant to join the Finance team to support the Buisness Manager and Accounts Manager with all aspects of accounting and finance function. In addition general administrative duties required by the school.

Salary: £16K - £19K
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 9am to 5pm
Holiday: 25 days plus bank holiday (Leave cannot be taken in term time)

All new staff will be subject to enhanced DBS clearance, identity checks, qualification checks and employment checks to include an exploration of any gaps within employment, two satisfactory references and registration with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS);

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Posting cash, bank transfers and cheques to Sage Accounts
• Setting up weekly BACS runs
• Reconciling bank account and petty cash
Purchase ledger
• Posting invoices to Sage Accounts
• Preparing BACS payment runs
• Checking supplier statements
• Analysing monthly credit statements and posting to Sage Accounts

Sales ledger
• Helping with the production of invoices
• Monitoring payments and chasing outstanding invoices
General Administrative
• Deal with enquiries at reception desk by phone and in person
• Helping to organise school events
• Maintain close working relationship with Accounts Manager & Business Manager

Successful Candidate:
Experience with Sage Accounts Program
• Strong Microsoft Excel
• 4 GCSE Grades A – C (or equivalent) including English and maths
• A high degree of personal and interpersonal skills showing initiative, flexibility, confidentiality, diplomacy and discretion
• Ability to convey information clearly, accurately and succinctly to the whole school community and those who interact with us
• Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and adults in accordance with safeguarding practice
• Excellent time management - meeting and managing deadlines and the ability to prioritise workload
• Able to support the Christian ethos of the School
• A willingness to work outside of normal hours to help with occasional evening or weekend events
• Calm demeanour
