Principle Objectives and Responsibilities including the following, other objectives may be assigned:

  • Cash flow and liquidity
    • Assisting the Senior Treasury Manager with short term cash flow forecasting
    • Daily liquidity management and funding of bank accounts
    • Reviewing daily and weekly cashflow reporting produced by the Treasury Analysts prior to submission to the Senior Treasury Manager
    • Reviewing the monthly reconciliation between sweep account balances, commission draw down calculations and balance sheet reports.
    • Act as support and cover for the Treasury Analysts for the daily statement downloads and coding of transactions for cash flow
    • Monitoring balances on non-sweep bank accounts and foreign currency accounts, and escalating areas of concern to management
  • Investments
    • Maintenance and monitoring of the Group investments
    • Suggesting and implementing new investments as appropriate
  • Business engagement
    • Engaging with finance and local branches to optimise banking operations
    • Approval of amendments to online banking access for local operational staff
    • Aligning business with the target banking structure including opening and closing bank accounts
  • Counterparty Security
    • Assist the Treasury Risk Manager with the production of the quarterly reviews of banking partners, including counterparty risk, service levels, account # and £ exposures to each bank.
    • Assist the Treasury Risk Manager with the counterparty risk assessments of existing and proposed insurer partners.
  • Banking administration
    • Mandate and internet banking administration
    • Maintenance of operational banking functionality (cheque indemnities, redirection of interest and charges)
    • Maintain the existing Sweep mechanism and assist in the development of improved cash pooling structures, where possible
    • Ensure FCA letters from banks are in place in respect of fiduciary trust accounts
    • Understanding and ensuring FCA regulatory rules as applicable are adhered to at all times
    • Ad hoc manual payments - processing of BAC’s, CHAPS and Faster Payments that fall outside of standardised automated processes, ensuring compliance with Group governance and FCA regulatory rules
  • Compile Treasury statistics as part of the regulatory reporting to the FCA
  • Supporting with Group Treasury and wider Finance projects as required
  • Maintaining documents and filing
  • Ad-hoc analysis and supporting the Treasury Risk Manager, Senior Treasury Manager and Fiduciary Cash Manager as required

Desirable Knowledge

  • Basic accounting knowledge, cash flow and reconciliation experience
  • Banking back office including mandates, internet banking systems and payment methods
  • Seeking or already pursuing an accounting or finance qualification
  • Experience in an insurance or financial services organisation (ie. FCA-regulated environment)
