Helping clients of all shapes and sizes, in business risk service we support businesses by providing the necessary advice to help them manage and improve their business performance. You'll provide organisations of many different sizes with the advice and solutions they need to navigate complex risks and challenges. You'll help them achieve their business goals, enable them to grow sustainably and in turn help to shape a vibrant economy.

What you'll be doing:

To take ownership of data analytics services to both external and internal audit clients in a way that exceeds client expectations while taking responsibility for managing and developing staff.

Main responsibilities
Planning
•demonstrating a robust understanding of how data analytics can be integrated into an audit approach
•ensures assignments are appropriately scheduled and resourced
•ensures terms of reference / audit planning documents are agreed by the client prior to review commencing
•agrees budgets for review with partner and/or client
•reviews existing work programme to ensure alignment to terms of reference

~~Fieldwork

•delivery of data analytics subject matter expertise on client assignments
•design and execution of data analytics programs and solutions.
•ensures effective team working and to GT methodologies, and that tasks are appropriately delegated with all information to support key decisions documented
•reviews all working papers and provides feedback and coaching to team members based on review of work carried out
•ensures scope of review is being met and that team are working to Grant Thornton methodologies
•keeps abreast of issues as they arise through liaison with the team

Completion:

•attends close-out meetings with client and has a full understanding of issues discussed
•sets expectations for production of draft report to team. Ensure that the written work is of a high standard, addressing commercial issues and is well structured meeting the needs of the intended audience and requiring minimal Partner input.
•ensures appropriate updates to the 'Action Tracker' are processed.

Client relationships

•manages a portfolio of existing client relationships
•builds and maintains good working relationships with all clients and colleagues
•develops audit committee papers for presentation to the partner and in accordance to client timetable
•attends audit committee meetings and leads client liaison meetings

People/team management

•takes a proactive interest in the team's performance and well being and is seen as an approachable and respected member of the team who takes a proactive
•manages, motivates and coaches by inducting effectively, giving regular feedback, providing on the job training and completing timely appraisals
•is actively involved in the recruitment of staff and inputs into assignment appraisals

Billing

•monitors WIP for clients on regular, e.g. monthly basis, and manages WIP to keep at a minimum level and minimising write-offs
•monitors invoices raised and cash collected in a timely manner to ensure aged debtors do not escalate

Marketing/practice development

•attends external events to create networks and potential job opportunities
•identifies and manages changes to the business unit
•helps to develop new products and services
•actively involved in office marketing events, is an 'ambassador' of the firm, is aware of the wide range of services the firm offers and suggests innovative products, whilst pro actively identifying cross selling opportunities
•ensure clients are aware of other GT services that can be provided and understands the firm's position in the market and its competitive advantage.

Personnel

•interview candidates for new positions. Contributes to the motivation and commitment of the team in order to realise the team objectives and achieve results
•assist in staff development, write/input into all assignment appraisals for junior staff and complete self job appraisal and six-monthly forms on a timely basis.
•Coach and mentoring role for staff for all levels, ensuring staff are given tasks to assist in their development. Carry out formal appraisals as part of counsellor role.
•Recognises effective performance, identifies and takes corrective action with performance issue

Other duties

•attends training to develop technical and personal skills. Takes proactive steps to develop self awareness and performance
•adheres to the firm's risk management policies and procedures
•undertakes other duties to meet the demands of the business

Education / qualifications
Professional qualification (ACA, CA, ACCA, IIA) and / or Accounting/Finance/Data Sciences related degree

Experience
Post-qualified experience within risk management, with experience of internal and external auditing using data analytics.

Experience with using data analytics software:

•IDEA or ACL
•Tableau, Qlik, Power BI, SAS or similar.

Familiar with accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle, Sage etc

Previous experience of client work in relevant industries to Grant Thornton clients.
