Role Summary The Senior Financial Officer is responsible for analysing financial information and preparing financial reports by compiling information and utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures. He/she assists with the day to day supervision of the Accounts Department and provides the necessary support to the Finance Manager to ensure that all accounting transactions are completed accurately and in a timely manner. Responsibilities Summary Supervise the daily operations of the Accounts Department, and accounting staff. Establish, maintain and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures. Analyse and review budgets expenditures. Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness. Analyse revenue and expenditure trends, recommend appropriate budget levels and ensure expenditure control. Resolve accounting discrepancies. Supervise the input and handling of financial data and reports for the company's automated financial systems. Interact with auditors in completing audits. Assist the Finance Manager with the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements and budgets. Prepare Management Accounts as required. Provide accounting policy orientation for new staff as required. Ensure that employees comply with Company cash handling procedures, Company cheque handling policies, procedures and limits. Prepare and file all appropriate tax forms and statutory obligations. Review weekly payroll. Review the accounts receivable and accounts payable functions. Respond to queries from the company's bankers, the auditors and other authorities. Reconcile Bank Statements monthly. Any other duties ancillary or related to the foregoing. Requirements Completed up to the final level of a recognised accounting programme. At least five (5) years accounting work experience in the management of computerized accounting systems. Experience using SAGE Accpac accounting programme. Experience working in a manufacturing organisation. Excellent organizational skills. Strong analytical and reasoning skills. Well-developed interpersonal skills. Good communication skills - written and verbal.
