NOW Careers is currently seeking to recruit an Assistant Accountant on behalf of one of our favourite clients, a well known, growing and forward thinking company based in the Newport area.

This is a really exciting role for an experienced and competent Assistant Accountant to report directly into the Management Accountant. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for ensuring the general ledger accounts are up-to-date and accurate and assisting with the production and distribution of the monthly management accounts which are widely used in the business to aid decision making and to evaluate performance against forecast, budget and prior years. You will have the ability to efficiently analyse large amounts of data and work to strict deadlines, and will be a natural people person with a great sense of fun.

The salary on offer for this role will be circa £25,000 per annum plus study and benefits.

Main duties of the role to include -

• Assist in the production of the monthly management accounts

• Accruals, prepayments and various other balance sheet reconciliation

• Assisting with detailed reporting and variance analysis

• Maintenance of the fixed asset register

• Assist with statutory reporting, such as quarterly VAT returns, ECSL, international tax returns and surveys for the Office of National Statistics

• Assist with the completion of the year-end audit

Skills you will have -

• Part qualified accountant

• Experience in using Microsoft Navision is desirable

• Strong reconciliation skills

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills

• The ability to manipulate and analyse data

• Excellent attention to detail

• Previous experience working within a retail business preferable

• Good time management skills and the ability to meet strict deadlines

• Build excellent working relationships with colleagues.
