Team Lead General Accounting

Team Lead, General Accounting KPMG in Jamaica seeks to identify a General Accounting (GA) Team Lead to supervise the JESS general accounting staff and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with the appropriate principles, practices, and procedures.  This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of technical and analytical accounting activities including reconciliations, year-end schedules, and other general accounting tasks. The position will be assigned to our rapidly growing KPMG Jamaica Expanded Support Services (JESS) which provides services to a major client in the United States. Roles and Responsibilities The Team Lead performs work of a technical or analytical nature, requiring special skills, training, education and related practical experience. Applies knowledge, independent judgment and Client's policies to complete moderate to complex accounting or finance related job responsibilities and assignments. Oversees the team who performs the execution and delivery of the in-scope General Accounting tasks to ensure accurate and timely month end closes Prepares and reviews a variety of reconciliations, analyses and special complex reports Performs quality assurance review of team members' delivery and ensures it meets expectations and deadlines. Complete performance reporting of the GA work product against contractual parameters Brings a customer-centric focus to the role and act as the first point of escalation to ensure high levels of Client satisfaction. Encourages and supports the identification of continuous improvement initiatives such as automation and procedural enhancements Skills and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field from an accredited college or university required Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience, two of which should be a hands-on supervisory role Ability to guide and train staff regarding account processes and procedures Advanced knowledge of GL and accounting for Balance Sheet Reconciliations and Analysis, Other Account Analysis and Fixed Assets.
