Head of Financial Accounts that reports directly into the Head of Finance, acts as a member of the Senior Finance Team, contributing to the development of departmental strategic objectives and manages a team of seven in financial accounts.

The charity is one of the UK's leading care and support charities to help people with mental and physical disabilities. The charity is going through an exciting period of growth and change and requires someone of a high calibre to take on this position.

Description

The Head of Financial Accounts will have the following responsibility's:

  • Managing a team of seven financial accountants.
  • Responsible for the preparation of the annual Consolidated Statutory Financial Statements.
  • Responsible for the project management of the annual audit, ensuring that continuous improvements are made to the accuracy and timeliness of information provided (including by branches)
  • Responsible for the production of all statutory returns, including all tax returns, Gaming Board, House to House collections.
  • Responsible for devising and maintaining a system of internal financial control which protects the charity from fraud and error.
  • Act as the in-house technical "expert", for VAT and other taxes, by keeping up to date with current tax law and practice.
  • Responsible for the preparation of the statutory element of the monthly financial report to the Executive Board and quarterly report to Finance Committee.

Profile

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified accountant with exceptional technical skills and a proven track record of leading a team of accountants in a complex organisation.

You will possess excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels. You will demonstrate a thorough understanding of the principles of financial control, and have proven experience of identifying and implementing improvements to financial controls and procedures.

Previous experience in a financial role in the charity sector would be a distinct advantage but is not essential.

Job Offer
