The opportunity
QIC has a rare opportunity for a full time, open term Execution Trader to join our Global Liquid Strategies investment team in Brisbane.
Reporting to the Director of Global Liquid Markets Trading you will be accountable for execution of the portfolio management teams' trades in accordance to QIC's best execution standards and work alongside a high performing global team.
The opportunity will see you apply your speciality knowledge in foreign exchange trading including emerging markets and non-deliverable forwards along with any other areas of specialisation from your career. Your role will be to execute portfolio manager strategies accurately, compliantly and at competitive market levels and ensure trading activity abides with all relevant regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will be required to provide succinct and timely market intelligence across a number of liquid market asset classes to the broader team including technical and quantitative analysis.
The ideal candidate
As a strong candidate for this role, you will have proven experience in foreign exchange and exposure to one or more of the following asset classes, interest rates, inflation, credit, cash and repos, equities, commodities and alternatives. You will be confident in taking ownership of quantitative data analysis, transaction cost analysis and data management for foreign exchange transactions and other instruments as required and be able to deliver quantitative analysis for trading strategies.
You will have a passion for financial markets, with strong analytical and quantitative skills and can thrive under pressure. Your ability to exceed client expectations and problem solve will see you succeed. You will positively embrace the team's strong risk culture and contribute to QIC's reputation as a global leader in best execution practices.
To excel in this role, you will bring a positive mindset and work well in a small global team, whilst also being able to work autonomously. You will perform well under pressure and be a confident decision maker who takes a natural accountability for your process. You will be charged with aligning trading development with the needs of the team to ensure adequate coverage across markets.
The position calls for an Execution Trader, who can operate between research and execution with vigilance and proactivity, and has experience in trade cost analysis.
Applicants who possess existing skills with programming and trading systems and investment platforms such as Matlab, VBA, BlackRock, Aladdin, Bloomberg, TradeWeb, YieldBroker, FXall - with a focus on process improvement - would be highly regarded.
