Description of the job

A vacancy for a R&T Investment Manager (m/f) has arisen within Airbus in Blagnac. You will join the Financial Performance Management Department.
The Finance team is seeking new talents to work on the value assessment of Research & Technology (R&T) investments for the Company (c.a. 700m€ per year for the 3 Airbus divisions).

You will be in charge, together with the Technology Cluster Leaders and the Technology Planning & Roadmapping team, to assess the value potential of research projects and will contribute to the definition & prioritization of the R&T Project Portfolio.

You will also be responsible for developing methodologies and referential to ensure a consistent approach across all Technology Clusters.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting & challenging the R&T community in defining robust project value assessment,
  • Building sensitivities to key project parameters to identify the most critical assumptions and understand the level of risk inherent to any research project,
  • Assessing project strategic fit with company priorities and objectives,
  • Ensuring qualitative metrics are available (Figures of Merits) and well understood,
  • Providing high level view of R&T investments (by product, by technology roadmap, by maturity…) to enable educated decision making,
  • Preparing recommendations to the management regarding projects to be started, stopped or continued,
  • Developing and maintaining value assessment and business modelling standards,
  • Training and coaching business and finance communities on R&T Project Valuation.

This role will involve some travel for business in Europe and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.

Required skills

You will have the following skills and experience:

  • Educated to a Master degree in Finance or related discipline,
  • Mid-career (5+ to 10 years of experience)
  • Engineering, Strategy and Costing background is a plus,
  • Financial modelling background,
  • Mathematical and Statistical skills (Monte Carlo simulation…),
  • Experience in investment appraisals, ability to question and challenge,
  • Broad understanding of company strategy and challenges,
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
  • Curious, open to digital and technology subjects, strong appetite to dive into new topics and digest a large amount of related information,
  • Ability to work independently and to engage with internal stakeholders at all levels of the company,
  • Ability to switch from big picture to detailed view,
  • Language Skills: negotiation level of English. French and/or German would be a plus.
