About the Role - Payroll Manager
This will be a standalone role and the Payroll Manager will have control of the payroll function for approximately 300 employees across five companies. This will be a very hands on position will also involve providing continuous improvement with regards to enhancing existing processes for the department. You will report into the Group Finance Manager but work very closely with the Group Finance Director and will be the key point of contact for any and all payroll related queries.
Key Responsibilities:

Responsibility for producing monthly payroll for approximately 300 employees (running separate payrolls for 5 companies)

Ensure payroll related payments are processed and made on time

Ensure accuracy of payroll records by liaising with HR

Creating payroll journals to enable the posting of payroll to management accounts

Processing and managing expense claims and company credit card claims

To be the lead contact with HMRC regarding payroll taxes

Liaison with HMRC; pension providers and other third parties

Provision of regular and ad-hoc reports

Developing and maintaining up to date procedural documentation and identifying continuous improvement opportunities

Manage the demands of key stakeholders within the business and develop strong relationships

Dealing with queries around holiday pay, sick pay, tax rates, SSP, SMP, disputes on payments etc.

Updating People HR System with Payroll Info to reflect Sage payroll.

Provide excellent customer service to all employees across the business

Preparation of year end tax forms (including P60’s and P11ds)

Maintaining knowledge of current and new legislation impacting payroll at all times

Assist with the preparation of the payroll budget

Assist with Research & Development tax reclaim

Daily reports in relation to SpaBreaks.com sales

Other ad hoc duties as required
Candidate Background
-
Intermediate Excel user (Vlookups, Sumif, Pivot etc.)

5+ years payroll experience (ideally experienced running multiple consecutive payrolls)

Knowledge of double entry bookkeeping is essential

Experience of Sage 50

Ability to prioritise workloads with minimal supervision

Remuneration and Benefits:
- £35,000 to £40,000 per annum
