Financial Reporting Manager Req ID 91565BR Job category Finance Countries (State/Region) Western Cape Location South Africa - Western Cape - Cape Town Role synopsis Global Business Services (GBS) is responsible for managing the period end close reporting of the groups results as well as preparation of externally reported information for the Southern Africa business. The role will manage the team that executes the management of the period end close including group accounting, external reporting financial & non-financial information, reporting systems as well as the preparation of the annual statutory financial statements, to be distributed to various stakeholders. The Incumbent will be required to Coordinate the financial close process on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis Oversee the integrity of the GL system and associated financial and non-financial systems which interface with the GL Generate key Financial information for board subcomittees Generate consolidated and separate Annual Financial statements for statutory entities Coorindate the external audit process Ensure Group and Statutory information is reconciled and understood The role provides the incumbent with an end to end exposure to the Southern Africa reporting and directly interacts with the leadership team to provide them with the results, insights and recommendations. Key accountabilities Functional Contribute to the long term business planning exercise of the Record to Report Tower; develop and cascade annual business and continuity plans for the team including priorities, goals and performance metrics. Lead and / or support the establishment, forecasting and management of annual operations budgets for the department. Generate and support the GBS Centre, Tower and business vision, strategy and action plans Lead and develop a high performing team Review the operational performance of the team regularly against defined objectives, plan corrective action accordingly Provide support for regular operational performance updates to management Responsible to planning and co-ordinating key timelines, reporting on milestones and key risks and driving interventions required for statutory and group deliverables Work with the team to drive the accuracy of master data related to general ledger chart of accounts, and alignment to global best practices and reporting requirements Service Management & Continuous Improvement Manage relationship with the Business Partners, IT&S, Embedded Finance, GBS and external stakeholders, including external auditors, (negotiate and manage service level agreements) and drive cross functional collaboration. Work with senior internal BP partners to ensure alignment between GBS and local business strategy and priorities Identify, resolve and develop solutions for complex, escalated and systemic system reporting and final reporting problems to ensure consistent and high quality customer service at all times Support the development, implementation and training of Record to Report global and local finance policies, procedures and practices in compliance with legal & regulatory requirements and industry best-in-class practices Regularly track and lead efforts to proactively manage associated risks and update supporting procedures Support projects with ad hoc data requests Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and lead the implementation thereofLeadership & Supervisory Plan, assign and direct work for team members. Particularly; Oversee the integrity of the GL system and associated financial and non-financial systems which interface with the GL Clearly articulate and reconcile differences between group and performance reporting results to the statutory financials statements (Caseware) and own the understanding of any additional insights related to quarterly financial committee board packs and analytical review packs at a group and local statutory level Clearly flag which statutory audit adjustments are required for group vs. statutory reporting and track the updates of these Timely preparation and submission of group accounts on a monthly basis for all consolidation units and the supplementary data and non-financial data submissions. Manage the relationship and interface with external auditors Ensure COA for ERPs (ISP, JDE, FBW) and Caseware are kept up to date Preparation of the quarterly financial committee board packs and analytical review packs at a group and local statutory level Oversee the analytical review processes (ARP) and be the key support for the statutory ARP packs Drive controls and continuous improvement of all reports Set goals and conduct performance appraisals, reward and discipline employees Provide mentoring, guidance and feedback to team members to support long term career development of key talent Lead the development of a high performance culture within teams promoting continuous learning and focusing on meeting / exceeding customer needs / expectationsResource Management Carry out resource management responsibilities for teams to ensure the efficient and effective allocation of resources for the organisation and organise people in support of GBS service, control and cost requirements. Flag significant demand variations to help ensure the development of a flexible resource allocation strategy Essential Education Essential Education CA/CIMA/ACCA, Honours Degree in Finance, Accounting or similar field (CA strongly advantageous) Essential experience and job requirements Essential Experience At least 10 years relevant post qualification experience in a financial reporting and management role with proven ability in interpreting and reporting on key Financial and Management information. Experience in balancing financial and business needs to deliver business performance. Experience in leading and developing high performing teams.
