Your role
Are you inquisitive about macro markets? Do you love to understand what makes them tick? We are looking for someone who can:
- conduct highest-quality, rigorous and insightful research into the macro drivers of fixed income (FI) markets in Australia and New Zealand primarily, with interest in applying those skills across equivalent Asian markets
- conduct valuation and modeling work to substantiate research theses
- convert macro analysis into investible opinions
- help the broader Global Macro Strategy team with client coverage
- collaborate closely with economists, particularly across Asia and other global macro strategists; interact constantly with sales and trading.

Your team
You will be part of the Global Macro Strategy team. Based in Asia, you will primarily work on Antipodean FI markets, with scope to work with the rest of the team in Singapore analyzing broader Asian FX and FI markets. The team's primary focus is to help identify well researched, original actionable ideas Asian macro markets and your role will primarily to identify such ideas in the Australian and NZ FI markets and then communicate those ideas to senior business managers and the banks clients globally. You will collaborate very closely with the Global Macro Strategy team based in London and New York as well as with the economists across UBS's global research team.
Your experience and skills
You have:
- postgraduate education and 3-5 years experience of analyzing macro markets, with experience in Antipodean markets preferred
- experience at the IMF, RBA, RBNZ or similar organizations, government institution or large asset managers
- solid knowledge of macroeconomics and FI markets, knowledge of FX markets a benefit
- excellent analytical skills including econometrics and proficiency in the use of programming software
- the highest level of ethics and integrity

- inquisitive, meticulous, strong team player, but also able to work independently and multitask under tight time frames
- prepared to roll your sleeves up to get a unique result
- able to lay out an argument simply and cleanly both verbally and in written work
