Payroll Accountant

Large retail brand based in Berkshire is looking to recruit a Payroll Accountant to work in their central finance team. This is a brilliant opportunity to gain further experience in a high turnover business.

Key responsibilities for this role;

  • Processes the payroll for circa 1000 European employees.
  • Manage the monthly payroll cycle which entails:
    • Collating hours to be processed (from excel based timesheets).
    • Processing of variable payments e.g. sickness, maternity pay, unpaid holiday and bonuses.
    • Checking payroll and obtaining authorisation for pay.
    • Distribute payslips.
  • Act as the first point of contact for payroll queries from employees.
  • Ensure adherence to statutory and PAYE reporting requirements.
  • Submitting monthly Pension information to the two pension providers.
  • Booking all payroll journals including wage accruals.
  • Payroll reconciliations.

To be successful in your application for this role it is beneficial to have;

  • Part-Qualified Accountant (QBE will be considered).
  • Good financial data management skills.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, working flexibly and prioritising workload to meet deadlines.
  • Extensive Payroll experience.
  • Experience of managing a manual timesheet process.
  • Experience of using ADP Freedom highly desirable.
  • Good Excel skills - ability to develop tools and use formulas for payroll processes and checks.
