Head of Internal Audit

This is an outstanding opportunity for a Head of Internal Audit to join an interesting and diverse business based in Central Birmingham. Reporting directly to the Group Finance Director, you will be working in an autonomous and hands-on role, critical to the Senior Management Team in ensuring internal financial control, compliance and risk is comprehensively monitored, advising on best practice and driving change moving forward.

In this highly-visible Head of Internal Audit role, based in Birmingham, your key responsibilities will include:

• Performing internal audits (planning, execution, wrap-up and follow-up) in line with the agreed Annual Audit Plan
• To prepare audit scoping documents and audit reports
• Assess and report on the effectiveness of current internal financial controls
• Regular meetings with the CFO, Group FD, and Senior Management Teams
• Monitor and drive action of audit recommendations and preparation of management internal control reporting documents
• Support the business units in implementation of your recommendations including co-ordination of Group-wide initiatives
• Input into the development and continual improvement of the internal audit process
• Perform ad-hoc projects as necessary, e.g. Process improvements, Post Acquisition reviews, Policies, Investigations etc

To be successful in your application for this Head of Internal Audit role, you must be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA) and have hands-on experience of covering audits in a multi-site group. You must have excellent financial accounting and internal control knowledge, and previous experience of implementing control improvements. You will also need to have outstanding time management and organisational skills. This role is mainly based in Central Birmingham, with some travel involved to other sites (95% within England). The Group has a diverse and interesting portfolio of businesses, but in the main manufacturing - therefore manufacturing or engineering sector experience would be especially highly regarded.

This Head of Internal Audit role attracts a great package up to £70,000, including car/ car allowance, pension, healthcare, and a discretionary bonus of up to 20%.
