General Responsibilities Assembly Ensuring that the assembly cost centre is working to set monthly budgets as set out by financial department and output targets as agreed in the Operations Plan Implementing a strategic process structure for Assembly area Managing all staff elements including rostering, budgets, training, etc Route & Driver Management Ensuring route optimization is proactively managed to ensure cost effective operation in line with set budgets. Ensuring the drivers are working effectively and efficiently while delivering a high standard of customer service. Fleet management, including diesel costs, maintenance of vehicles, and managing driver compliance and ensuring relative legislation is adhered to. Warehouse Management Ensuring the warehouse is working to maximum potential and efficiency Ensuring stock controls are in place, are effective and any issues are dealt with effectively and efficiently Cycle counting and variance reporting in place Ensuring that a “live” stock system is in place and stock audits are carried out on a regular basis Staff Management Responsible for all staff management, motivation, training, compliance and managing labour costs in line with agreed budgets Responsible for developing a culture of cooperation and teamwork Lead regular team meetings to effect two-way communication Liaising with the HR consultant on staff issues, development and training Hiring staff in line with seasonal demands Operations Management Form and implement an operational strategy to achieve the key deliverables. Co-ordinate operations schedule and activities to ensure on time delivery, acceptable quality and completeness of customer orders, adhering to the “right first time every time” principle Evaluate, update, improve and professionalise all aspects of the Company's Operations performance and systems with a particular focus on the introduction of SOPs across all business operational activities (Purchase POs and Goods Check-in, Product quality, Shortage elimination, warehousing work practices, Driver management and Route Optimization) Food Safety ISO 22000 Responsible for ensuring compliance and implementing all operational aspects of Food Safety/ISO 22000 The Person The Operations Manager will have excellent influencing skills, people leadership ability and good Human Resources practice awareness. They will have a background in Operations Management with a focus on improvement and change. They will be a natural entrepreneur with the commercial rigour and determination to solve problems and deliver to a tight budget They will have good project management experience. They will understand and be competent using ERP systems (ideally Microsoft Dynamics NAV) to manage their business Essential Qualifications and Experience A minimum of 7 years industry experience in a food distribution or FMCG Supplier environment with recent experience in an Operations Management role. Educated to degree level in an appropriate discipline relevant to the position. Appropriate training and qualifications in Health & Safety and Food Safety standards and best practice.
