UK Payroll Manager - About The Role

This UK Payroll Manager opportunity is a rarity within the organisation, the role has been held by an individual for a number of years and is now at the point in their career that they are looking for a new challenge, so a new opening and a chance to join this international services business has arisen.

Assuming the responsibilities of the UK Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for leading, mentoring and training a small team while also being a hands-on member of the Payroll function. The business internationally has close to 20,000 employees, the UK side of the business has in the region of 6-7,000 employees, all on a monthly payroll.

Working within this business as the UK Payroll Manager you will have a varied yet hands-on position, within your role you will be responsible for:

  • Providing supervision, guidance and support to the small payroll team
  • Oversee all aspects of the payroll function including starters, leavers, transfers, unpaid leave, timesheets, pay reviews, P45s, SMP, SPP, SSPetc.
  • Provide advice and undertake research on payroll legislation
  • Support and actively contribute to new initiatives affecting payroll
  • Process Ex-Pat payroll and policies including Global Mobility, HR Group Tax and overseas offices
  • P35 year-end return and provision of P60s
  • Be involved with a new systems roll out within finance, contributing to the Payroll module implementation

To apply for this UK Payroll Manager position, you will have the following skills, experience and exposures:

  • Payroll Manager or Assistant Payroll Manager experience - ideally with a number of years experience within the payroll function, supervising staff
  • Knowledgeable on UK Payroll - understanding legislation and regulations
  • Initiation to change
  • Interest in Payroll Systems - including the ability to advise on payroll implementation
  • Strong communication skills, with the gravitas and confidence to speak across different departments of the business
  • Ideally, experience of Ex-Pat Payroll
  • Ideally, experience of tax equalisation
