A rapidly expanding SME market research business is looking to hire a number 2 in finance to report directly in to the CFO and help modernise the finance function. The role covers both technical and commercial work and provides you with the ability to grow into the CFO role over time.

Description

  • Planning, preparation, review and consolidation of the Group's Annual Budget

  • Planning and management of the Group's annual consolidated accounts for audit
    • Liaising with the Group's auditors

    • Reviewing and improving the Finance Team's systems and processes, including involvement with the specification of a new system in the short to medium term

    Company Growth

    • Assisting the CFO with the review and evaluation of investment opportunities

    • Assisting the CFO with the set-up administration and accounting for new companies and offices

    • Assisting the CFO with the planning and preparation of longer term (5 year) Group plans

    Compliance, Legal & Policy

    • Assisting with customer compliance requirements

    • Completion of quarterly and annual UK statistical surveys

    • Keeping updated with changes to UK accounting standards and disclosure requirements

    • Assisting the CFO with the drafting, approval and implementation of Group policies

    • Specifying information requirements needed from time to time from the Group's Business Information platform (BI) and liaising with the Group Technology Team

    • Assisting the CFO with the review of commercial contracts

    Management & Leadership

    • Direct management of a small team, and supporting the CFO in the wider leadership of the global finance function

    • All management responsibilities including Performance Conversations and supporting the team with learning and development opportunities and career development

    General & Ad-hoc

    • Providing support to business Unit and Departmental managers as and when needed

    • Providing general assistance to the Executive Chairman and CEO as and when required

    • Preparing ad-hoc reports on salient financial matters from time to time for reporting to the Executive Team

    • Planning and making occasional internal presentations on matters and policies of the Finance Team

    Profile


    • Previous experience in a similar role at Group level (minimum 5 years) within an international organisation

    • Proven ability to drive efficiency and process reviews across a global finance function

    • Experience managing across different cultures, and across multiple jurisdictions

    • Proven track record providing high level commercial support within a multi-faceted and global business

    • Proven ability to quickly learn new and complex applications, processes, and procedures

    • Experience within a subscription-based business would be an advantage
