The Program
Youth in Detention Activities (YIDA) is a breakfast program that provides cooking sessions for young people 12 - 17 years of age who are being held at Don Dale Youth Detention Centre. Through this program we support young people to develop real-world skills including cooking, healthy eating, financial budgeting, interpersonal communication, teamwork, task delegation and self-motivation.
The opportunity
This role suits someone over the age of 18 who is reliable, engaging and is able to hold conversations with young people whilst remaining neutral and impartial within a justice environment.
The impact
This program aims to increase the confidence, self-esteem and positive relationships of young people in the Youth Detention Centre whilst learning real-world skills
Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the World's largest humanitarian network.
